Conversation With a Coffinfish

One of my former coworkers Leonard has a clever story called "Conversation with a Coffinfish". It's quite funny.

News You Can Bruise: Hello.
Coffinfish: Hello.
NYCB: Is it true that you can walk on the ocean floor using your fins?
CF: You'd better believe it.
NYCB: Where do you usually walk?
CF: Just around.
NYCB: But like where? Like to the store?
CF: There are no stores in the depths of the ocean!

This reminds me of a story I wrote about 12 years ago called "Conversation Between Two Mountain Goats on the Side of a Mountain." I had forgotten all about it until the other day when I was looking through an old box of stuff and found some of my papers from the fiction workshops I took in college. I'll transcribe it when I get back to NYC.

I'm not sure I understand blogs. Or maybe I do.
I'll call it thoughtful people exchanging thoughts. I'm not sure I understand what "blogs"
is meant to be because its real purpose is locked
up in the word "blog" in which varioius people unsuccessfully attempt to define it.

Furthermore, I might better grasp it if it simply said various thoughtful individuals are
putting their thoughts "out there" for the benefit of anyone wanting to read them. Now that
makes sense.

Some people can go fishing anytime of year. I can talk about Japan any time of year. But I recognize this as an intellectual exercise of sort.

Lastly, I'm not bitching and moaning but I'm new to the Internet and I'm told to watch where I go
regarding identity theft, getting spam (I seldom
register my name, don't buy on the Internet and
don't go to certain sites or if I do, close them
rather than "get into" them.

So why am I writing to you? There's no one "in-charge"! While I like free-form, what basis to I have to think that someone isn't living off my
ideas and stalking me in the worse sense by knowing my most inner thoughts?

I don't know if this "comments" box will take as I'm not filling it out with my name and email
address. I could, e.g., with phony info. So I think all such comments like yours should have
"optional" on your mini-dialog boxes as a person
who wants a response can fill them in.

Good luck to you.
