Identify This Movie

I sometimes receive emails from people who have found my site through Google or another of the search engines. Typically, these people are looking for webcams and fill out my contact form with questions like the following:

From: latif ali
Subject: web cam

Please

help me on how to work with cam to see other member on line
     Thank You

What they don't realize is that CamWorld is not a site about webcams. I don't know any other way to deal with this problem so I usually ignore it, thoguh I sometimes wish people would read the "About" page before sending me an email.

Other times, I receive legitimate requests from people who found my site by searching for something else. In this case, I'm hoping another reader can help this guy since I don't know what movie he is talking about:

From: nedim sinanovic
Subject: help

please help me find the title of the movie, which is in a way similar to KOYAANISQATSI, and features the camera on the special tripod with engine. the camera is panning from left to right or up and down but photography is done with slow- frames at the time- tehnique and than projected as super fast movements of the images and slow camera movements. the photography as a recall is staning and imiges of the sixteen cappele, london, egipt, etc. as i could recall the title is something like- cronos. i am traying to find this movie for a quite some time, please help me

Powaqqatsi, perhaps?

The guy is abviously a loon, file under dev/null or possibly save all messages like that one, collate them together, and publish a book entitled 'Idiot's I have known and loved' - 'Requests from random strangers'

Sounds to me like he's looking for Baraka. Cam, if you haven't seen this one, definitely check it out.

Aye, it does sound like he's looking for Baraka. Well, Baraka fits his description pretty good save for the Sounds like 'crono' or something part.

Actually, he is probably searching for Chronos, another, earlier film by Ron Fricke. It was originally an IMAX movie and it must've been incredible on that scale. It's not nearly as good on the DVD as the transfer is pretty poor and it's just not nearly as good as the other movies of this ilk. Fricke's later work (including both Baraka as directory/filmographer and Koyaanisqatsi as filmographer) are much better than Chronos. If you haven't seen them, Baraka, Koyaanisqatsi, and Powaqqatsi are all amazing, and, to a lesser degree, Godfrey Reggio's latest, Naqoyqatsi. Here's an Amazon link to Chronos - looks like there are only used ones out there. Guess it's a good thing I picked up my copy about 4 years ago.

Cam, have you ever considered a disclaimer/tagline at the top of the main page (and maybe the contact page) that says something like "Camworld: Ain't nothin' about Cameras."

But in an interesting twist (these comments) this shows the unique power of the 'net: the gathering of the world's collective knowledge. I read the guy's plea and said "Huh?" And three guys have written in and said they've solved his problem. Unbelievable.

Question Cam asks every day: "How can people who can't take the time to read two paragraphs of my site, have the time to send me email?"

I second that.

Props to Dave -- I had thought Fricke's motion-control time-lapse system was new to Baraka. Will have to hunt down Chronos.

Non-English speakers and children are such a nuisance.

Our time's too important to even download their e-mails.

Who let these cluebies online anyway?

I think 'The Web For Dummies' answers that question.

_Baraka_ sucks. You guys are totally cracked.

I had a similar experience from a post on my website. I was commenting on a spam email I received, an enticement to sign up for some service, at which time I would win some money, at the least, $1. Definitely not worth my time.

Some person sent me an email thinking I had some money to give them and my polite reply started a short-lived flame war.

I'll probably be more particular about who I reply to in the future.
