Deal or No Deal Casting Call in NYC

This morning my twin brother Damien and I attended an open casting call for the hit game show Deal or No Deal, which airs on NBC three nights a week. Following in the tradition of our audition last summer for The Amazing Race 9, we figured it was worth another shot at willing a million dollars.
Being identical twins with a similar physical look as that of the show's host Howie Mandel we agreed the best way to catch the casting director's eye (and make a memorable impression) was to dress like Howie in a dark suit with a brightly-colored shirt, no tie and at least one hoop earring each. Oh yeah, we also went to the costume shop and bought some obviously-fake stick-on goatees. What follows is a review of the casting process, some photos we took and some reflections on what the crowd had to say.

5:00 AM: The alarm goes off. I jump in the shower and run the razor over my head to make sure it's as cleanly-shaved as possible. I put in my contacts, affix my fake goatee and get dressed. Howie has one of those goatees that is basically a tuft of hair on the lower lip, but nothing on the chin. I've never grown a goatee like this so having a fake one makes me realize it would take me quite a while to get used to it.
5:30 AM: I pick up my brother and we scoot across the Manhattan Bridge to Bowery Street. Right away we see that there is already a line of what we estimated at the time to be over 100 people, most of who camped out overnight. The casting call was being held at Blvd., a night-club on Bowery near Spring Street. I drop Damien off to hold our place in the line and I go to park the car. Luckily, it being so early in the morning I found parking pretty easily.
6:00 AM: I join Damien in line, which has already wrapped around the block on three sides. I realize my first estimate of 100 people in line was way too low. The figure is closer to 300-400.

6:30 AM: I wander off to find something to drink and curse the fact that all the bodegas are not open yet and eventually find a place with coffee and juices. I later realize this is a mistake as there are no public bathrooms anywhere nearby. The closest, we quickly learn, is the Starbucks 3 block away on Delancey St. Later I spend more than 30 minutes in line just waiting for the bathroom.
7:00 AM: Lots of waiting. The line grows longer and longer. The police, who have finally shown up to do crowd control, wrap the line around the block and then straight up Chrystie Street. It's fortunate that this area is mostly restaurant supply stores, a majority of which are not open on Saturdays - since the line is almost impenetrable. Any business that relies on walk-in foot traffic would have suffered, unless they were able to cater directly to the people in line.

8:00 AM: Damien and I take turns wandering the line, talking to people. Incredibly, a few people thought he or I was actually Howie Mandel. A large number thought we were with the show, which I suppose is an easy assumption to make. Some people thought we were there just to keep the crowd entertained. We fell into this role easily and took a lot of pictures with potential contestants who "wanted their picture with Howie." It was fun.

9:00 AM: The line finally starts to move as the casting people have arrived and started ushering people into the corrals in front of Blvd., where they then wait to be sent inside.
10:00 AM: We finally get to the front of Blvd. and the first people directly affiliated with the show spot us. One of them gives us a smile (we later find out she is a supervising producer for the show).
10:15 AM: We enter Blvd. and are handed a two-page application. The first page is 6-7 questions like "What is your most embarrassing moment?" and "What is your proudest moment?" The second page is a simple legal document stating that you agree to be considered as a contestant, etc.
10:30 AM: We are led downstairs in groups of 10 people. Each group of ten stands around a table with one casting person. The casting person tells us we have 8 minutes and each person will get 30 seconds to a minute to reply to her questions and tell her about ourselves. She asks similar questions as what is on the application, like "Why would you be a good contestant on Deal or No Deal?" and "What would you do with a million dollars?"
I get the embarrassing moment question and I reply "I once lost my car for 6 hours in a parking garage. She asks, "So, where was it? How did you find it?" and I reply "It was at a different casino." The rest of the group laughs, because they know how similar all the parking garages are in Atlantic City. One of those true-to-life moments we've all dealt with on some frustrating level.

11:00 AM: After the group interview, we head upstairs and stand around the entrance for a bit. A TV crew spots us and shoots a few seconds of video from a distance. We also are cornered by a reporter from the New York Daily News, who had a photographer with her earlier who had already taken our picture. I would not be surprised to see it in the paper tomorrow or Monday.
11:30 AM: Damien and I decide to walk the line once more as we know there are another 2000+ people who have showed up who did not see us earlier. This time we get to walk the line together and people respond very favorably. Again, many people think we're with the show but others plug us with questions about the casting process, realizing we'd just gone through it. We spend close to an hour doing the same spiel over and over again, explaining to the little crowds gathered around us what they are about to go through. Many people are very grateful for this information and tell us so. Many others tell us they are rooting for us to get on the show.

End Note: This was a fun and interesting experience. We're fortunate the weather cooperated. It could easily have been pouring rain or 90 degrees out. Would I do it again? Perhaps, I guess it depends on the show and whether I have the time. I recommend everyone go to a casting call at least once in their life. Not all are fun experiences but the fun crowds and the professional casting directors can make it a pleasant experience all around.
Hi there, was on that line, in between the people finally made it to the casting table at 4:30pm, so who knows? It was quite an experience, I got a 65.00 parking ticket (which I expected)and had fun. Never did anything like that before, but since losing 61.4 lbs, I've gained lots of confidence. Not sure when they do "call backs" on these things, or should I have gotten one already? Who knows? All I know is, love Deal or no Deal, will keep watching and remain hopeful. Renee

I didn't mention, to Shannon, Ellen and Meg, good luck to all you ladies, it was nice to talk to you. Thanks for helping pass the time. 7 hours is a long time, but it was fun....good luck, hope to see you on the show one day. :) Renee

Hey there...I think my friend and I were about 70 down the line from the start. Arriving at 1:00am from Vermont. It was a fun time although I haven't figured out why I waited 8 hours for 30. sec. we'll see maybe it will be worth it! Best of luck everyone....Anthony you were a blast. Thank God for good DOND neighbors!

There is a casting in St. Louis next week. Considering it??? Any pointers? Do you have to take your supporters with you?
Posted by: Rhonda at May 21, 2006 12:07 PM
I too was on line not far behind the twins Cameron and Damien. Waited about 5 1/2 hours. Was totally worth it. Yes they did let you know then if you got the callback right away. They only took less than 2% of the 4600 people. I did get one (I was the only one in the group to get it.) You got a yellow slip smaller but similiar to the American Idol paper. The call back was Monday Night. Waited another 3 hours and had a 15 minute interview and got to play the game. Was so exciting! Would definetly do it again! Hope you all see me on the show in 6 weeks.

I went to the casting call yesterday in St. Louis. I did not see anyone get a piece of paper for a call back. They said that they would call you if they were interested and that it could be 6 months from now. They had people come in groups of ten, stand around a table and each person was given 20 seconds to present themselves. Did anyone hear anything or have a different experience?

I love the show and I would love to learn how I could become a contestent

I went to the open casting in St. Louis. I waited in line for about an hour then they started handing out pieces of paper to come back on sunday morning at 10am to do the interview. I took it and came back sunday at 10 and got right in. They had each of the 10 of us talk for about 30 seconds then myself and 2 other ladies in their 50's were asksed to stick around. They asked us more questions for about 5 minutes each and then said goodbye and thanks.
About 30 minutes after I got home I got a call for a callback on Tues. at a hotel in St. Louis and they said to bring 4 to 7 'supporters' and dress like you would for tv. I have NO idea what to expect, I wonder if this is the 15 minute interview process that the previous comment talked about. I'm totally excited. Wish me luck!!!

I too was at the call in St. Louis, My sister-in-law and I got up(well I had been up since 6:30a.m. Friday) at 2:00 A.M. and we took off excited talking all the way when we got there it was 4:45a.m. We were corraled in the parking lot at the Casino Queen I did not sit except for the few minutes it took to fill out the app. around 8:00 is when the line started moving. Right behind us and in our group of ten were 2 firefighters from New York well needless to say being a frieman who drove from New York to Stlouis just for 20 seconds was way more rememorable than me wanting to bring the WHARTHOG home to retire. I even showed pictures of my 5 kids and everything. but the main thing is that it was fun and there really wasn't any commotion and everyone seemed to have a great time. Too the firemen and the cancer surviver in our group good luck and have great time on the show!!!!!!!

Awesome for you Dan! Good luck! I hope to see you on the show. I am dying to know what you told them in 20 seconds. Please do tell. You must have quite a personality. All and all it was a ton of fun. I would do it again. Congrats to you. I hope you win a million. :)

Hey
I was there for the NY casting. I guess I missed you guys. Anyway, out of the 4650 people, only 130 were picked for a call back at the Marriot. My brother was picked and we had to go with 4-7 people. They video taped my bro for like 10 mins and then everyone went in and played a mock version of the show.
They said it could take anywhere from 2 to 8 months for a call back.
The cool part is while we were there they did this thing called a flip on my aunt (which means they liked her crazy ass so much they wanted her to audition too)
Im curious as to when they are going to air all the casting call footage since that will be my only claim to fame. Good luck everyone!

Help DOND contestants! I am considering travelling to Vegas this weekend to try out. But my "supporters" are all over the country and won't be able to make it if I get called back. What legitimate chance do I have to be on if my supporters can't make it? Would they say "NO DEAL" to a solo callback tryout? Thanks for helping :)

I also attended the Casting Call in St. Louis at the Casino Queen; Out of the ten people at our table, only three of us were asked to stay. I was then asked to tell them something about myself that other people would not know/think about me. My answer..(that I luv the PBR) evidently did not phase them, as I was not given a call back to attend with my supporters.
Oh well. There were so many people there (thousands) that I really did not expect that I would have a snowball's chance, but at least making the cut from my original group of ten was exciting.
Allie
P.S. I will be attending a taping of The Price is Right in July...wish me luck!!

How do you sign up to be a player in the show?? Anyone, is there any forms to fill out to actually go there and play in real life??
Posted by: Sly at June 2, 2006 03:56 PM
For those interested in appling to appear on the Deal or No Deal show: Go to the NBC.com website and click on the Link for CASTING and then look for Deal or No Deal and just follow their instructions.
Allie, what is the "PBR"? Maybe they did not know what you were talking about? What did you do in the original 20 seconds? That is too bad that they did not pass you thru, but very exciting that they picked 3 in your group. I would try again.

Hey Guys- Just found this site. I was at the audition in NYC with my roommate and got a call back. It was great, so much fun! SOOOO much fun!!! No idea though. Has anyone heard anything after the call backs or know when they should hear? SOOOOO exciting!!! Best of luck to everyone:)

I went to the St. Louis casting call. I recieved a yellow call back slip after the 20 second interview. I attended the call back at the Ritz-Calton on 5/29/2006. I was interviewed for 20 minutes then my supporters and I played the game. The producer really like me and wanted to give me a good chance so he auditioned my husband too!!!! He did an awesome job also. Now all we can do is wait. The next callback can take anywhere from 2-8 months.

When and where is the next open call for Deal or No Deal?
[Ed. note]: Open casting for the Fall shows has been completed. The casting directors have a pool of potential contestants to draw from for when they start shooting again in August. It can be assumed that if the show does not get cancelled mid-season, then casting calls will resume in the Fall and probably again in the Winter. Pay attention to the NBC.com web site where they post ongoing casting calls. Alternately, you can always enter via videotape. Details are on the NBC casting page.

Hey All,
I am a big fun of Deal or no Deal and when this on the air, i actually put everything aside to be able to watch the show. Last month, me and my friend recorded a video tape but you know what is funny, i only have one supporter unlike others who have more than four supporters but i hope to appear on the show sometime. Keep trying everybody.

Hi everyone! I'm going to attend an open call on Sat. in Evansville, IN. For those of you who have attended, any advice on how early to get there or how to get a call back?
It sounds like so much fun! I can hardly wait!

I attended the open casting call in St. Louis on May 27, and I did get a call back. I went to the Ritz Carlton, and waited around with my supporters, and had a blast, waiting for my interview, and to play the game. All in all, I would say it's been the most fun thing I've done, in a long time, and in a split second, I would do it again, even if I don't get called back. To just be able to dream about being an actual contestant is a thrill every day now when I wake up. I think to myself, "today could be the day they call." Man, it's going to be a long summer. With any luck, I'll be typing a message to tell everyone I'm off to L.A.!!!! Good luck to everyone who got called back, and I hope you see me on NBC!!!!!

Hey Dwight! How many days after the open call did you have to go to the Ritz Carlton? I'm worried that if it's just a few days after, I won't be able to go. My family has delayed our Florida trip so that I can go to this call, but we're leaving immediately after I'm finished. Wonder if they'd consider letting me drive to another state? Just a thought.

I was wondering how old your supporters have to be? Is there an age limit? I am going to the try-outs this Saturday. I am so excited! Give me any helpful hints! Thank you!

Hi Everybody: I am going to attend the open call this coming Saturday in Evansville, IN. Do you have any pointers??? Can you give me an advice as what to wear or how to act?
Thanks, Shirley
Posted by: Shirley at July 13, 2006 03:39 PM
To Jill: The callback came the next day after the open call. I went to the Ritz-Carlton 3 days later, on Tuesday.
To Karen: There is no age limit for supporters. Just make sure that your supporters are the most exciting people you know, and make sure you're all dressed in "camera friendly" clothes. And remember this, BE YOURSELF. Don't try to act excited, BE EXCITED. This is a once in a lifetime chance, don't blow it. One of things a producer told me before my interview is this: don't walk out of here feeling like you could have done it better. Give them 110%, and feel confident that when you leave, they liked you, and you couldn't have done anything better. And for pete's sake, don't get impatient standing around for hours, waiting to be interviewed. I waited about 3 hours, and never showed an ounce of impatience. You have to remember, you probably won't have another opportunity like this, so make it count!!!
To Shirley: When you get up to the table on Saturday, whatever it is that you do that makes you special, do it, do it often, and smile alot. Show your excitement, behave like you just won the lottery, don't hold back, and whatever you do, don't whine. My gimmick was about 15 seconds of comedy. Apparently it worked. All 10 people, and the producer at my table laughed. Then I went on, and they laughed again. That's all it took. I was my usual quirky, funny self, and I got a call back. Also, have a unique answer for what you would do with $1,000,000. Mine was different than the typical ideas. I think that helped my case also.
Good luck!!!!!
Posted by: Dwight at July 13, 2006 08:39 PM
Dwight,
Really appreciate you taking the time to reply to everyone. Know wonder they liked you! I don't even know you and I already like you!!
I AM excited! I have wanted to do this since the show started. I could never get my husband to make the video AND NOW THEY'RE COMING TO MY TOWN! WOWEEEEEE!
Thanks again! I'll have to let you know what happens. I think I'm going to forward my home phone to my cell so I don't miss any "important" calls.
Jill
Posted by: Jill at July 14, 2006 07:42 PM
Jill, Thanks for the vote of confidence, and I wish you well tomorrow!!! Remember, plan ahead what you're going to say, because I'm telling you, they literally have a stopwatch, and they go in order, you have 20 seconds,....that's right, 20 seconds--to say what you're going to say and if the producer you happen to get isn't entertained, they move on to the next person when your time is up, and they won't hesitate for a moment. However, if what you say makes them smile, laugh or raise an eyebrow, they will ask you to stay, and release a couple if not most of the people around the table. Then the producer will probably have you elaborate on something you said, or maybe just ask you what you would do with $1,000,000. I like to compare what I went through with a job interview,... a really short job interview. I mean, what can you possibly say in 20 seconds that would make someone like you? 12 years ago before I got married, I used to entertain people at bars by making jokes, and making people laugh. I don't do anything like that anymore, so I'm sort of rusty at it. I was a little nervous at first, but then I realized... this is a person just like me, and they have a sense of humor,... although they see hundreds, if not thousands of people during these things, and it's a little harder for them to just listen to everyone with the same amount of attention. I mean at one point, my producer started looking away, as if I were trying to pick her up, and ignoring me like I had the plague. At that point, I was scrambling to say anything to get her attention back. I was quite surprised the next day when I got called, because I felt a little bit like I overdid it. She did see something worthwhile, and I'm still not sure what it was, but at this point, I'm not really caring, as long as they call me back before they start taping.
Again, Good luck and HAVE FUN!!!!!

I posted on May 28th about recieving the call back to go to the ritz carlton in st louis after the first round at the casino queen. There was about a hundred people there and we waited almost 3 hours. Got to play the game and all that. Didn't really think I had any shot because of so many people and all the other cities they were going to go to... But...
On Friday July 14th I got a call form DOND and was told that a spot opened up during their first taping session (July 19th to the 21st) and they were talking to me and 4 other people to see who could fill the spot. I talked to them for about 2 hours and emailed pictures and they said they would call back only if they picked me (boo). As of July 16th (2 days later) havn't heard anything at all. They said if I wasn't selected I would still be considered for other taping sessions. Almost would of been better not hearing anything than getting the call, being told you have a 1 in 5 chance of being on the show and then not hearing anything. OH Well.. Still hoping!

Hey Dan,
Just a question. I too made it to a call back and after I played the game I was given the option of playing another game where I could pick one of two cards to be on the show. I picked the right card and then as I was getting ready to leave the casting director called me back and spoke with me alone for about 10-15 more minutes asking me more questions. Did this happen to you or anyone else? Does anyone know if this is good? I have not heard from them and am so anxious ato find out ii I am going to be on the show. Any thoughts?

So, I was at the casting call Saturday in Des Moines, IA. They gave us the whole rundown of how the thing would work and they didn't mention anything about special slips, immediate callbacks, or playing a mock version of the game. They simply said that the casting director would review the 1400 tapes and then callbacks would begin and that we could hear back in anywhere from 2 days to 6 months. Is this just a ploy to make those of us who didn't get the "slip" feel like we might have a chance or is it possible that they have a different way of doing things? I think they have casting calls everyday in different cities for the next month or so????? How would that leave time for the whole process explained in earlier posts? Thanks for any info or help...

HI all! Well, I felt very good about my audition Sat. I was very excited and felt like I was going to pee my pants! (I said that on camera too! :) Anyhoo, just as Jessica said, they told us we had 30 secs. and then callbacks would begin anywhere from 1 day to 6 mos. We didn't stand around a table. There were 6 conference rooms and each had an interviewer and a camera man. You went in with a paper that had your name, ph#, and city of the call on it. You held it under you and said your "thing" and then you were done. My interviewer didn't ask me any questions, but my mom's did. I didn't hear much from other people after the audition. It was totally fun and I'd do it again in a heartbeat! We got there at 5:30 a.m. and were done at 10:15 a.m. I got to talk to the main casting director afterwards because she was sitting there as I was waiting for my mom to finish. Hopefully she'll remember me. My family was at home waiting for me so we could leave for vacation so I have my home phone forwarded to my cell just in case!
How awesome for you Dan! You'll have to keep us "posted!"

Hey! I attended the casting call in Columbia, SC. I waited in line for 6 hours. It was awesome! Everyone was so nice and pumped up. We all played off of each other's energy and stayed motiviated. I received a call back the next night. When the Los Angeles, CA number popped up on my caller id I about had a heart attack! I couldn't keep my husband quiet. He was thrilled! We went back on Monday for a second interview and played a mock version of the game. I wasn't able to round up my supporters but did get to take some gals from work. They were more nervous than me :) All in all, I had a blast, made some friends and created a memory that will last a lifetime. Oh, there were no slips handed out at the first or second interview. I wish everyone who goes out the absolute best of luck! What makes this all so fun is the fact that in America we have the freedom to believe in our dreams!!! What a deal!!!

Hi Dan and Jill
I am curious Dan, you mentioned they called you back in the room and had you play another game where you had to pick a box and get the right answer. they had me do it right then and I also got the right one but that was after I played the game with my supporters for around 45 minutes. I thought it went well but havent heard yet. Has anyone heard anything else in st. louis?

Hey, I went to the Richmond Va. casting today. Got there about 4 a.m. , there were about 300 people in front of me. They let us in the Shopping Mall at 7 a.m. , the casting call was supposed to start at 10 a.m. but they started us at about 8:30 , I went in a small booth, just me a camera man and an assistant. I was taped for 30 seconds. I was out of there by 9:50. Everything went very smooth and quick. Had alot of fun. They told us " If we want you , we will call you" . I'll be waiting! Good Luck everybody!

Made freinds with the yoga instructor and high school drill team coach, another woman named Elvira and last but not least Dawn drove from Edmond,OK she said she worked for the big Wally World. I highly recomend taking an umbrella with you. I was armed with sunblock 30. I shared that and my stash of PB&Js. The ladies around me shared Ice, spritzer bottles and the shade of their umbrellas.
We got 30 sec. and were told call backs could be up to a year away. Don't call us we'll call you sort of thing.
I went home a got a well deserved nights sleep. Planned on sleeping till noon. But, DOND had other plans for me. 9:00 am Sunday morning my phone was ringing.
Sharon from DOND said I was their first call back from Tulsa (we didn't get any yellow slips of paper?)I needed to round up my 4-7 supporters and come camera ready at 10am the next day. Supporters had to be at least 8 years old so my son could go. Yeah!
Things are a little fuzzy (Woke up from deap sleep) But she ask me to wear a suit or dress to the call back and I ask if she'd seen my tape? I remember saying if that's what you want me to wear I will arrive in whatever they want but not exactly my "style" She passed me off to Scott the Castin Director and he said dress to match your personality just promise me no shorts or jeans.
When I hung up the phone "Howler Monkey Screams" commenced.
I was told to download an 11pg. application and leave nothing blank. Questions included: If you had 3 wishes what would you wish for? Draw a self portriate. Compose a rap or poem about yourself. Crazy wild stuff.
I had about a 15 to 20 min. interview with Scott and Sharron. then my supporters were allowed in to play the mock up game. The game itself didn't go so well... I ended up with a penny.lol.
They loved my energy and my look but said all the taped call backs don't get seen by the producers.
He offered to let me play one more game. Pick envelope #1 or #2. One will say 'YES' my footage would get edited and forwarded on to the producers in LA. the other 'NO'in which case my audition ends right there. I picked 'Yess!" and the room went CRAZY.
After we left. I had to wonder if that was their safety net way of seeing just how excited you and your peeps would get when it was all on the line. Has anyone out there EVER picked 'NO'?

Hi guys! I went to the open auditions in Savannah, GA. There were 3,000 people there. Out of the three thousand they called 30 back on tuesday, I was one of them! I know with out a doubt that I could have done much better on my call back interview, but I was so nervous I couldn't even think. basically i did my 15 min interview, we played a short version of the game and won $10. At the end he just said try and forget about the audition(no chance) that we could hear back anywhere from two weeks to two years. i have been beating myself up ever since! I did have a good time though!

Hi everyone! I'm going to attend casting call in Chattanooga, TN this Saturday. Information here is REALLY interesting! Thanks!
Posted by: Kim at July 24, 2006 01:23 AM
I am shocked not by what I am hearing but what I am'not hearing' from you guys that have attended a Deal or no deal casting-call; I too attend one in Des Moines, Ia on July 15, 2006 and we were the 8th in line arriving 17-hours early with all of our hopes and dreams in our pockets. We already had our applications completed and we had done some research and were prepared for the 20-sec. interview. We were aware of the 'yellow slips' I had read about in these testimonials, but we failed to get one...yet, they leave you with the belief you still have a chance to get a call-back.
If I hadn't read about these slips, we would have not known any better. What really upset me was that I found a website after-the-fact called: casting-calls.us that gives the requirements and a discription of what the producers are looking for.
I found out that they were looking for (1) person (out of the 1400) that attended that 90+ degree day and that they must be betweeen the ages of 18-45. Of, course we were all over 45yrs. and did not have a prayer in the world, we had lost long before we ever arrived.
Today I noticed that the age limit for New Orleans is 18-60yrs old. I wonder if all the 61yr. and beyond are aware of this?
I am furious to have been decieved, mislead and used as an "extra" only there to increase the crowd. Waiting in line for 17 hours in this heat and all for not. I sent a letter to WHO-13 and they forwarded to DOND and I recieved a call from California denying that they posted the site, nor do they have an age limit...yet, remember when you reach the table for your 20-seconds of fame that they first ask you three questions: name, town you reside and YOUR AGE! I suggest if you are over the age of 45, don't waste your time.

Thanks for all of you sharing your experiences. I couldn't make it to Mobile for the casting call, so I am going to mail in my video. Did anyone get a call back from Mobile?
I wonder how many people are actually going to make it on TV?

Hey- I auditioned in Bossier City on July 29- I would be interested to know if anyone has heard anyhting from that audition.

Hi, all. Considering all the rumors, does anyone actually know of someone over age 45 that made it on to the show? I'm 58 and stood in line yesterday in Chattanooga for 5 hours, hate to think it would be all for naught. I had fun but missed a day of work and the point was to make it onto the show.

I went to a casting call in Shreveport, LA, and I made it there around 8a.m. There was already 400+ people ahead of me, and the gates didn't even open up until 10:00 p.m. I knew I had a good chance, because of my outgoing personality. I finally made it to the booth to do my 30 second interview, and I blew the camera man away!!! The next morning, my mom woke me up and told me "Deal or No Deal", was on the line. I was shocked, I hopped out of the bed and grabbed the phone. They wanted me to come to another interview, where I would actually play a pratice game. This is where they will pick the actual contestats for the t.v. show. I am SUPER EXCITED! Out of 3,500 people I was selected to come back.
If anyone is going to a casting call in a few months. Just make sure you give it your all. They are looking for people with a lot of ENERGY. Don't go in there talking about you need money to fix your house, send your kids to school, or to vacation with. Yes, we all need money to do that with. Just be original and be yourself. Wish Everyone Good Luck.. And Pray For Me!!!

Hey everyone!! I went to the casting call in Anchorage Alaska on July 29th. No tables or slips of paper. We waited in line for about 4 hours and then once you got to the front, they shuffled you to 5 different cameras. You had 30 seconds to tell them why you should be on DOND. I was soooo nervous, but felt I did great!!
The next day I received a call back to come in for a second interview and play a mock game with my supporters. Unfortunately, I live in Valdez (6 hours away), so after the Sat. casting call I flew back to Valdez, cause they told us it could be 6 months before they called. I was willing to buy a plane ticket to make it for hte interview, but they told me it wouldn't be neccessary. They told me that they would do a phone interview and that we would play the game while being taped.
Now......I'm so nervous I can hardly stand it. What should I wear? What are they going to ask? What do my supporters wear??
If anyone out there went to the second call back, can you tell me what people were wearing?? Any other advise would be great! I'm excited and can't even sleep, because I keep thinking about this interview!!

So the nationwide casting call is over, right? I've seen a few postings of people that got call backs from those. Has anyone gotten anything else? Emails, phone calls or letters? I remeber at the interveiw the casting director mentioned I could get phone calls asking just one question and so could my supporters. The long application also ask if you check your email daily. Waiting for the next step, whatever that is. Please, post if any of you have received anything past the first call back.

I attended the Columbia Casting call and waited in line for 6 hours.
It was worth it b/c I got a call back the following Tuesday. I had to take off work early to get there that Wednesday but I think we did really well and showed our spunk. they told us it could be anywhere from 1-6 months so it has not yet been a month so I am still anxiously awaiting my nxt phone call.
i love this website b/c it's interesting to see how many people have gotten these call backs. It seems like a lot of people but if you think of all the thousands of people you did beat out then it makes it worthwhile.
Everybody keep us updated on if you get a 2nd call back.

Hey Joey,
Did you play the practice game? Also, did the casting director, say anything to you, after you left from the room? How long did he say, you would hear back from someone? I am so anxious. I have searched the whole internet for resources. I guess since it is a new game, not to many things exist... Please someone reply back....

Yeah I played the practice game and I asked him how long it would be if I heard back and he just said "it takes a while".... did you play in Richmond?

I found a website that handles the tickets for the various tv show tapings. Deal or no Deal is on there, and 2 weeks ago, they started taping. They will tape again tomorrow, Thursday and Friday, then they take a couple of weeks off, then a couple of days at the end of the month, then 3 days at the end of September. Anytime between now and the end of September, they could call you. It is also my understanding that they tape about 50 shows for the season, even though they only use about 26 of them. So if you see it like I do, that's 50 chances, that they could call any one of us. The website is hollywoodtickets.com

Hi
I auditioned in Las Vegas on the 31 of May 2006. I waited in line for 6 hours in the blistering heat with two friends of mine. It was fun..but really hot, anyway I went to the table with the people and since I'm from another country I spoke my foriegn language and the producer fell inlove with me, she fist sent off the other seven people and said that they would contact them when needed.
Then she talked to the lady that was on my left and asked her a follow up question, wrote something on her paper and said that she would be contacted if needed.
Then she talked to the lady on my right and she had a really big personality and talked like Fran fromthe nany, it was awefull!! Anyway she talked to her some more and wrote something on her paper and sent her off.
Then there was me, she asked me about my family and my 4 languages that I speack, I talked to her about how I want to help my family that still lives in my native 3rd world country.
She handed me a yellow slip and said that she would like me to comeback 2 days later, I was beside myself!! She said to hide teh slip so other people did'nt see it, she direcyed me to some beyond some curtains that were set up in a corner at the end of the room.
The lady there then told me the time and place that i need to be with my supporters. I went home could'nt sleep, was just crazy with excitement.
After work that Monday I got off work early and my husband and his family got in a car and headed to Las Vegas again. There were more people than I had expected, I was feeling so special untill then. Anyway we all went into one room where one guy from DOND was telling us how lucky we are and how we should give it our all at the interview.
They kept taking people to diffarent rooms and I waited for about 2 hours, hungry and tired having picked up and left from work.
I was the last person to be interviewed that day in that specific room. The producer that had given me the call back was so excited to see me and said that she had been waiting just for me all day! This calmed my nerves and I felt like i could actually do this !!
Anyway we talked and talked and the guy was video taping every tear and every smile!! Then came the chance to bring my supporters in and we played the mock game, and in that game I actually won the Million dollars,it was so easy to be excited, the producer told me that no one had been able to do that all day!!
Anyway then she had two cards numbered 1 & 2 and said that if I picked the one with the YES I would be considered for the show, obviously i was then a nervouse wreck cause if I got NO it would all end as quickly as it began.
I picked the one with the YES and the producer gave me a big hug and wished me luck!! I though about DOND for a while after this interview and since they told be that it would be 3 months before I would hear anything I felt silly for even thinking about it....
this is untill Monday July 26, sitting and working I get a call from a guy that introduced himself as a producer from the show and said that they had picked me and would be calling that night to talk about what they need to put my show together.....oh my gosh was I excited!!!
I called all of my family to tell them the good news and they were ging wild!! Anyway since then its been a rollercoaster ride, my shoot date was pushed back 4 weeks ( I personaly think that they are trying to do something cool for me,just reading between the lines!! ) Cause when they first called they said that my taping was in 8 days so it was hecking and they called my supporters, co workers and friends cause they wanted better supporters and not just family so the more they found out about me the more they thought they should push back the date of the shooting, they said it would be better for me that way ( whaterver that means?? )!
They told me what to wear and the things they want me to bring and all that stuff, they are going to be flying me out with my supporters and getting us a hotel and all that jazz!!
The end of the month is my definate shooting date!!
Whatch for me!!
Posted by: Nsiki at August 1, 2006 02:52 PM
Oh my gosh Nsiki!!!!! congratulations!!! How exciting!! I am so jealous! I hope you have a blast in Cali and I hope you win the million! It's nice to hear from somone who actually got called back!!! Well keep us posted if anything cool happens!!

Has anyone received a call back after the second audition with your supporters that did not get to choose between the #1 and #2 cards that said "Yes" or "No"? Just wondering if you have to be asked to pick one of those cards to be considered for the third round. Thanks!
Posted by: Carrie at August 1, 2006 06:14 PM
Wow!! That's so exciting!!! I was at the Richmond open call and had my callback last Monday. We are from PA so all of my supporters called off work at the last minute (the open audition was Saturday and they called me Sunday morning). So - we made the trek again and it was so worth it!! We had a blast and they spent a lot of time w/ us so I'm hoping that's a good sign. I seriously need money for our April wedding - what a great way to fund the party!!!!!
Just to get the callback was very exciting. Congrats to everyone that has made it this far - something to be proud of.
I also just lost 50 pounds so everyone at my gym is routing for me....good luck to everyone!!!

Did anyone who went to the audition in Chattanooga get asked to play a second game or get asked to play the game where you pick card #1 or #2 and get the yes or no to have your tape sent on to the producer? I'm just wondering if they do the same thing in every city. I went to the casting call this past Sat. and was called back on Sunday for the audition today with my supporters. It went well! We'll see! Just wondering if anyone else in Chattanooga had the same experience.
Thanks!

Nsiki, Congrats! I know you wont be able to tell us what, or if, you've won any money. But, will you please let us know the process? Every little detail? You are the first I've heard that has heard back after the 'call back.' My call back was July 17th. If you waited 2 months to hear something I'm in for a long wait. You should see me dive for the phone and squinting to reading the caller ID, lol. Good Luck.

Just wondering where the "call" came from after the call-back? If one has caller ID what should we be looking for--area code? etc. or do you actually think they would leave a message?

I went to the audition in Chatanooga this past Saturday and had my 2nd audition today. I was not asked to play a 2nd game, nor was I given an option b/w envelope 1 or 2. Actually, I was only there about 30 minutes. Did anyone else from the Chat auditions have a different experience? How long were you there?
Posted by: Nuky at August 1, 2006 11:37 PM
I went to the open audition in Lexington and got called for the callback audition. I'm thinking that since there are several casting directors doing these auditions, that each of them might just have their own way of doing things. I did not see any papers with "yes" or "no" anywhere around or hear of any in the auditions. I'm also thinking that this may be part of some of the directors ploys to see just how enthusiastic some people are. Perhaps the word "yes" was on both of these papers and they wanted to see who showed the most energetic reaction. ? ? ?
Posted by: Diane at August 1, 2006 11:52 PM
I'm with you, Diane. None of the people I talked to at our callbacks in St. Louis heard of these "yes" envelopes. I can assure you that when I left the room with my supporters, all of us felt like we couldn't have done anything better, and the producer we got looked entertained-----yet here I sit, waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Every time I read one of these strings about a "yes" envelope, it makes me cringe--only because I didn't get one, and it makes me think thatI didn't because they weren't the least bit interested in me, or my supporters. But who knows, maybe I've put too much thought into any of this, and they could be waiting until the end of September to call me. Whatever happens, it was nice to dream about it for a while, and I'm still a big fan of the show, and will watch it until it goes off the air.
Good luck to everyone who got called back, and Godspeed!!!! (Isn't that what they tell asronauts?)

Caller ID reads *Out of Area* I beleive it's LA area code. Don't Look for bells and whistles DEAL OR NO DEAL to read out.
Posted by: Shelly at August 2, 2006 08:40 AM
Ok when they call it shows as an ID unavalable, or no number. If they don't get a hold of you in the first number they will try every number that you listed even your supporters ( cause if they have decided they want you something that small does'nt discourage them) that is if they want you on teh show for sure.
When they called to say i made it on the show, they called my work and left me a message there, my cell and left a message, my husband and for some reason I was with my husband at work getting ready to go to luch and i asnwered his phone and they reached me that way. So I would only be worried if you have a line that block UNIDENTIFIED CALLERS!!
And to answer your questiopn Shelly, I'mnot sure what it is you're most interested in because I explained most of what happened in the last blog I did other than that there is'nt much to it.
My advise would be to just hang tight, I know that their season premire is Sep 18 and so they may be filming till the end of Sep but I'm not sure.
I know that they have 2 taping cycles a month and each one lasts a week and they prepare for the next one for a week, so hang tight!!
I'm so excited, if it does'nt work out it just was'nt what you were suppose to be doing at the time, when one door closes another opens!
Oh yeah and it does'nt matter who your supporters were at the taping they can call you and change them, they canask you to give them other names, phone numbers and picture and they call those people and decide wether or not they want them. You don't have much controll overe that, basically the one person garanteed a spot is your spouse. Just thought that would be usefulkl information so if you brought someone that did'nt really stand out, if you stood out and they liked you, theyll ravish through your life to find some interesting people they want ( its all about the ratings)
I feel like in the past two weeks I've been turned upside down, inside out, they want to know every little detail about you and your life. Nothing is left to emagination. So once you are assigned to your producer and show co-ordinater they become your best friend that you talk to several times a day !!
Posted by: Nsiki at August 2, 2006 12:41 PM
Oh,no. Nothing you can tell us yet. After, AFTER you do your taping for the actual show. Let us know what you can. I'm sure you're restricted about telling anyone about your winnings, but, hope you can let us know more about the process when they tape you for the show. Best of luck!

Nsiki
Do you know if being asked the quesions about card 1 or card 2 had anything to do with you getting chosen? I attended the NYC casting call and the Casting Director really seemed to like me. WE made him laugh and my wife told funny stories about me. At the end they asked me to pick card 1 or 2, I picked the one that said yes. Then as we were leaving and I was waiting by the elevator, the Casting Director called me back in to ask me some more questions. They said that they really liked me and i would be hearing from them but that was in middle May. Any thoughts?
Posted by: unknown at August 2, 2006 09:07 PM
I think that that cards numbered one and two are there to help show your emotions and them to see how you react under pressure, I think that they both have yes but at the tough of your DOND chance ending right there in that room, how do you react?
I think all the producers were nice, they had to be. They cannont afford to have a someone walking away felling like they did'nt like them, cause that person may do some crazy stuff and that would'nt be safe for anybody.
Its their job to try and get the best out of potential contestants and they can't give you the blank face or they may not get as much out of you!! Its the nature of the business, so I thought my producer liked me but when i was waiting in the hall for my turn I was looking through the peep hole on the door and she seemed to like everybody else just as much.
I don't think any of us went home crying because it was so aweful and we don't think we will ever get a call. We all go home hopefulls!!
In my case I had a good story and I spoke well and had alot of things that they can use to make their show interesting, something they've never done before.
They look for interesting, extraudinary, something viewers can get hoocked on...a story!
So wanting to fund you retirement does'nt really do it, so does everybody else. Wanting to have a big wedding ....yeah so does everybody else.
It sounds harsh but its the trueth, to get on the show you sell them your life story, your experiences and you hope the'll be the highest bider!!

so no one thinks that getting asked to pick one fo the 2 cards is a good sign? how come some individuals were asked to do this and others weren't? Do the casting directors gice any indication to those of you who have been called back the second time to actually be on the show when you go to the first call back? Please give any information.I am so bad at waiting:)

I think the whole 2 cards thing is being blown way out of proportion, I just really think that its a technique that some ( not all) producers use to get more out of their potential contestants. Maybe if they felt you gave it your all, they may not even need to do that part.
To answer Jody's question, I can't remember her name, she is blond and blue eyes and really nice, with a somewhat raspy voice( could have been because she was screaming and talking all day)

I was at the Richmond call and am wondering: If they don't call you within a couple of days, does that mean you wont get called in the future? I assume they were still in town so they would have to call you soon after the audition. Am I right? Will they call you for a interview even though it has been almost 3 weeks? Has anyone been called weeks later? Help!

I was at the Manhattan pre taping 2nd call back and I have not heard anything either yet. I also don't know anyone who has heard back since then and this was back in May. I thought i did a great job too and my pre taping lasted a long time. After me a waitress with other waiters and waitresses went in and i think they said they did really well too. if you are out there and know who i am talking about, did you hear back yet? i thought for sure you would get picked since you and your supporters looked so happy after the pre taping. Any info would be great. I feel like its been forever, and i have not heard anything. I also did not have the two cards with yes or no to chose from..did anyone from nyc casting have that? any news would be great!!

I was at the call back in NYC. The same person that interviewed me at the open call interviewed me for the call back. I had the 2 cards and picked "yes" and when I was leaving and standing by the elevator the casting director called me back to the room to talk to me some more. I thought they really liked me as well, butI have not heard anything. Maybe they are looking for a new demographic. They seem to be picking people who are from areas that have not been represented on the show. My casting director was a guy, either luke or chad. Anyways, anyone from NYC keep us posted.

Hey Nsiki! Was your casting director's name Mary or Meredith Rachel-foot or something like that? I was at the Evansville call and she was there. Really nice lady with blonde hair, blue eyes, and a bull horn! Ha Ha Ha
Good luck to you! I still haven't heard anything. I didn't even get the 2nd callback yet and I thought I was great :(
Posted by: Jill at August 6, 2006 10:26 PM
Ohhh..I think it was her, I'm almost sure!

I was at the Anchorage call. I got the call back the next day, and had to bring my supporters. Luke was my casting director, he seemed great and called me by a nickname he had given me. Then at the end of the "pretend" game I had two cases, mine and the last one. There was one cent and the one million. They offered me $400,000 and I said "no deal". Luke seemed irritated that I said no deal, he asked if I would have done that on the actual show. I assured him I would, I want to be the first person to go all the way. Ofcourse, I lost :( , but it was really fun. I am wondering if I blew my chance by not taking the money.
Anyway, I had a great time,
Posted by: Amber at August 8, 2006 03:29 AM
Amber,
Did you have the two cards thing that everybody is talking about? Maybe luke just doesn't use that technique. What did he tell you at the end. I won the million that day and he told me I coudl pick it up at the front desk..ha...then he said now we wait 1-6 months for another call back and that was it. it's almost been a month since mine 1st call back. I'm about to give up hope on this since they are already on their next set of tapings.
Posted by: Jodi at August 8, 2006 08:34 AM
I would like to sign up for the show I live in Oxon HIll Maryland.I love Deal or no Deal and I am crazy about Howie. i would love to be a contestent on the show.My husband thinks I'm crazy and i tell him when i win the million we will see the crazy one.
Posted by: Cutisha Serrette at August 8, 2006 09:57 AM
Jodi,
Luke did not have the cards, at least for me. He did ask me to pretend to win the million, and I was screaming and crying and thanking everyone. Then at the end, when I only won the penny, we acted like I had lost and hugged and stuff. I thought we did really well. I wouldn't give up because our callback up here in Alaska was only a week ago, which means they are still currently looking for contestants. Good luck to you,
Amber

I received a second call back in New York. My family and I think we did very well but I have not heard anything since May 16th. Unfortunately I have given up! We are all so upset. Do you think there is any hope?
Posted by: Laura at August 10, 2006 09:02 AM
I attended the NYC casting call, received a call back and played the yes/no game as well. I too feel I did extremely well and had a good chance of being chosen. The casting director really seemed to like us and said some really nice things. What we have to realized is that there are limited spots for the show. I believe that the yes/no game is significant and whoever played that game was chosen to be put in the potential contestant pool. The point of the call back is to narrow down the potential contestants they have chosen from each state. From there, the producers of the show view all the tapes the casting directors selected and choose the potential contestants they like to be on the show. This is my opinion of the process. I feel the casting directors were very sincere about the people they liked but it is not their decision who gets picked. We should be cautiously optimistic until all the tapings are finished. They are not going to take ten people from NY or Las Vegas etc to be on the show, maybe two. So we should all feel really proud that we made it this far and feel really good about our auditions.
To my fellow NYers Julia, Laura and Unknown, has anyone heard anything new?

Just a word out to everyone that posts and reads this board. I find this to be the most supportive and informative of all the DOND boards and consider us very lucky to be able to network with others from across the country that are part of that "IT CLUB" that made even one call back. We are part of a spunky group. I'm sure some of you have read the Banker's Blog on the NBC site. It is scary and sometimes offensive. Keep us posted on individual progress, I'll get a kick out of watching any one of us on tv!
Posted by: Shelly at August 10, 2006 10:33 AM
Ny Hopeful-
Love the name!!! No word yet... keeping hopes up though! I believe the 'cards' where a specific casting directors way of seeing how some would react, I don't think they were in anyway a step up in the process. We definitely need to get New York on the show!! We need to represent our city! The call-back was such a blast. Good luck to everyone!!!! Fingers crossed!
Posted by: Julia at August 10, 2006 02:19 PM
To all Ny'ers maybe they are putting us off until last b/c they already had NY contestants. I hope this is the reason. I think that want the smaller regions of the country to appear first, then maybe make their way to the big metropolis' again. Although, I think Las Vegas already had some 2nd call backs. I went tohe NYC and we thought we did really well. The casting director even summoned me back to the room when I was getting on the elevator to ask me more questions and was very optimistic. I thought I was a shoe in. Guess not, but that is okay. Hey Nsiki, do you know something about the yes/no game that you are not telling us? I thik maybe you already know the answer tothe question we are all pondering? Did you play the yes/no? Why would sme be picked to paly that game and others not?
Posted by: unknown at August 10, 2006 06:26 PM
I don't know any thing more about the yes or no cards , what I know is what they told me! hat if I picked yes, my tape will be reviewed and if no it would all the over mytape would not be seen by the producers.
So when I picked yes, it ment I was going on to another poll the the producers would call the people that they liked and talk to them and then if its all still good set up with bein on the show.
Thats what happened to me, i'm leaving for LA in two weeks, my show would air between Oct 12 - 26
Love the blog!!
Posted by: Nsiki at August 11, 2006 02:20 PM
unknown nyc - so it appears you did not get the yes/no cards then did you? i did not get them ...but i think the guy i had didn't use that on anyone...
I am stil remaining hopeful though since i felt my supporters and I did a great job.
i had the young cute guy who looked about 25 who had the waiter and waitresses right after me go in. I don't remember his name but i know his last name was garabedian. he was a really nice guy and i was pretty sure i did well. Again, I did not have the yes or no cards and I don't feel that meant much. I think it was just used in some cases to see reactions. I showed lots of emotions throughout so I don't think i needed that tactic. First I only won a penny..so they saw my sad side, then we played again and i won 50k and i was so happy etc..so they saw both sides from me.
I was with my husband, cousin, aunt and parents and we enjoyed the time a lot! just keeping my fingers crossed now!!!!
did anyone get a call after the 2nd call back to be on the show who did not have the yes/no cards????
thanks!
Posted by: tanya at August 11, 2006 11:27 PM
Hey All,
another 2nd callback New Yorker here.
Thank goodness for this blog. We've all been asking the same questions and it seems like they're taking their time scheduling NYC this season. Yeah, I had the 2nd callback in May and Yeah, I also got the YES envelope. My supporters & I thought it went really well, but still haven't heard anything. Notice Nsiki was called only EIGHT days before a possible first shooting -- then they rescheduled. I think that is the way it's done with gameshows, very last minute --so the fact that no New Yorkers have been called yet (on this blog anyway) is a good sign for all of us. Good Luck everybody! And Nsiki -- bring home that million!
Posted by: iStorm at August 14, 2006 06:42 PM
Nsiki,
Could you tell me what amounts you had left when you played the mock game??? Do you think they WANT you to go for the million? Just curious.
Posted by: shooie at August 17, 2006 11:22 PM
hey everyone? has anyone from NYC heard anything yet? I am still sitting with my fingers crossed? I wonder why they are taking so long to call NYC contestants? Are there any other websites we can check?
Posted by: unknown at August 18, 2006 06:43 AM
I still have not heard anything and do not know of any other websites. There were 130 at our call back and only 4 or 5 have written on this blog. It's possible that some NY'ers have been called but have not written on this site. The only way we are going to find out is by watching the show this fall.
Hopefully, one of us will have been called by then.
Posted by: NY Hopeful at August 18, 2006 10:51 AM
I believe, (and this is pure speculation, as are most of the comments on this page) they are picking a relative number of contestants from each television market, depending on the extent of viewership. For example: The casting director (along with the local newspaper) told us (in St. Louis) that our market was their largest one. That's why there were 5600 people at the open casting call on May 27. I read on one of these posts, New York had 4600 people, of which 130 were called back. In St. Louis, only 90 were called back. In the smaller markets, the numbers were smaller, so if I had to guess, from the smaller cities, they may only pick 1 or 2 from each, and NY, STL, and Vegas, being the larger calls, they could possibly be picking 3 or 4 from each of those, maybe a couple more. But remember, they told us, they taped 50 shows last season, and only aired 26 episodes. Turns out, not all tapings are worthy of airtime. Fine by me, as long as I get a chance to play. Let me win 10 or 15 thousand dollars, and see if I really care if it makes it to TV! So for all of you waiting patiently like me, you can hold on to your hopes and dreams until about September 21 (the day of the last taping) then we can all resume our normal, ho-hum lives.
Dwight
Posted by: Dwight at August 18, 2006 11:30 AM
I don't think September 21 is the last taping date for the year. Plus - you need to remember that they are planning live shows, etc. and with sweeps months - it's very unpredictable. Why do you think Sept. 21 is the last tape date?
Posted by: Heather at August 18, 2006 12:09 PM
I'm not sure about anything anymore, but in my spare time I found a website called hollywoodtickets.com, that has free tickets to the taping sessions. As the dates become available, they post free tickets. They started the 3rd week of July, and there are 10 taping sessions left (2 a day for 5 tape days). I don't imagine that will be it for the entire season, just for the fall.
Posted by: Dwight at August 18, 2006 01:52 PM
I was at the Mobile casting call and just got my call back on Wednesday. They setup a phone interview for me and my supporters tonight. We have to tape the interview and I guess we mail them the tape. I am so excited!!!!!
Posted by: Jennie at August 18, 2006 03:57 PM
To answer the question by shooie, I played till the very end and the only amounts I had left was the million and 100k and they gave me a offer which my husband said to take but I said no deal and went on. So they asked me if I wanted to switch the suitcase, I refused then I had to open mine and it had the 1mil.
After that it was easy to get excited and jump up and down, I think thats what they need someone that will keep going thats what makes teh show tense and gripping!!
Posted by: Nsiki at August 18, 2006 04:44 PM
Thank you Nsiki. Good luck to you on the show. I too got a callback and had to tape my interview over the phone and send it in. I didn't "go for the million." I think it dramatically hurt my chances. I don't look for a further phone call. Although, I think otherwise I did really well. Anyone else do a phone interview? I'm really bummed.
Posted by: shooie at August 19, 2006 11:45 AM
I did the phone interview last night and am sending my tape in today. I did go for the last case and didn't trade it, however mine had the $750 in it and we all acted disappointed. I think we did really well and am just glad to have had the experience. I do really, really hope they call us back though. I'm just so excited!!!!
Posted by: Jennie at August 19, 2006 11:58 AM
At my call back,in Tulsa,OK. they told us the mid-west was one of their strongest markets. The turn out was so successful they would be coming back for more casting calls.
What they tell each person: "you are exactly what we're looking for. Kinda like a womanizer. Ooo, did I really say that?
They want each of us to feel special and hang on to that glimmer that we will be the "one." And I'm happy to hold that thought for a year. But as I read what others were told I'm feeling more and more like one of MANY and not the elite few. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, far from it. I want to be the Grand Marshall...but it seems that even the casting directors are working from a few set script choices. Everyone heard very similar statements.
For now, I'll enjoy the excitement of what might happen. Along with who knows how many others.
Posted by: Shelly at August 19, 2006 12:08 PM
jennie, who was your casting director? what sort of things did he/she tell you? i.e. how long would it be, your chances, things like that? and where was your casting call originally?
Posted by: shooie at August 19, 2006 01:42 PM
Hi Shooie,
My casting call was in Mobile AL. I got Chad as my interviewer and he was great. He basically said the same things they did the first time. 2 days to 2 years before I could get a call. They interview you alone and then play a mock game with your supporters with you. You needed to be real animated and never, ever say "It's OK" if you lose big money. I am very happy with how all my friends and I did during the interview. It's hard to pretend that the suitcases and the audience is there in front of you when it is not, so I think we did well.

i tried out memorial weekend. I picked the yes card also. I really thought I would be picked by my producer. It has been almost 3 months and I am sad. Do you think it is too late to get picked from st. louis. Has anyone from st. louis got to go to los angeles....
Posted by: debbie at August 21, 2006 04:29 PM
debbie,
I was in the one at St. Louis. I haven't heard of a single person from our area picked yet. I'm sure there were at least a couple, just not you or me, (yet). Hang in there, it could still happen, just keep your fingers crossed, and never give up hope. We should all be so lucky to be able to dream of getting that "call" that could change our lives forever.

ALSO....anyone from the columbia audition get a callback????????????????
or the anchorage one??????????
Posted by: Jodi at August 23, 2006 09:46 AM
I am from Columbia, SC, and I was the auditions on July 8th, and got the call back on July 9th. They told me that it would be anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. My interview (I think) went well, I had a lot to say. The first thing he said to me when I got in was, "I had never seen anyone with as much energy as you".... well after standing in line for 5.5 hours, and meeting about 20 different people, you had to have fun doing it.
Posted by: Ishmael Brown at August 27, 2006 06:50 PM
they told me 1-6 months. its almost been 2 months. after january...I will have given up. I'm sure we def. won't be on this seasons shows b/c the last taping seem to be the end of sep.
Oh well..good luck to you ishmael! It's nice to have a fellow sc person on here~
Posted by: Jodi at August 28, 2006 11:18 AM
why is it that everyone on here seems to think they did really well? i thought i did horribly at my 1st audition and told everybody i did not do a good job at all, then to my suprise i got a call back. and now that i have done my 2nd interview i feel the same way, that i did horrible. all i keep reading on these forums is how everybody doesnt understand why they havent been called yet. how many people out there actually think they didnt do well?
Posted by: tb at August 28, 2006 01:46 PM
did anyone have scott as their casting director?
Posted by: tb at August 28, 2006 04:51 PM
I just heard that someone from SC was already chosen to be on the show...anybody know anything about this. I hope to hear more details soon.
Posted by: Jodi at August 28, 2006 04:54 PM
What were the dates of the casting calls and where were they in SC? I actually think they will be taping shows longer than the last of Sept. One of the people helping at the casting in Lex. told us that they sort of build up a bank of interviews to pick from. It seems like it was good to have a "gimmic" about yourself. They told me of one person that got a callback because he said he was a "ghost-chaser". So, they said his story would fit in if the show had a theme, e.g. at Halloween, etc.
Posted by: Diane at August 28, 2006 09:12 PM
I had Scott too! I thought he was pretty interesting - like I would have a good time just having a beer w/ him!
Hey guys = don't give up hope!!
Posted by: Bitz at August 29, 2006 06:42 AM
Diane,
The SC casting call was in columbia at dutch square on July 7th I believe it was. Apparently the person from Cola who got picked called into a local radio station but they couldnt' give her name or let her actually speak on the radio. they were just talking about her. Not sure why she coulnt' give her name b/c Nsiki did on here and gave us details about when her taping is. Maybe they only tell some folks not to say anything. who knows....anyway...someone from here got picked and I can't wait to watch to see who.
Posted by: Jodi at August 29, 2006 08:25 AM
anyone from richmond hear anything yet....do you know how long after the July 7th auditions the guy from SC got a call back?
Posted by: Joey at August 29, 2006 12:37 PM
less than 2 months. It had to be recently b/c I just heard about it. I agree with Diane on them wanting you to have a story. That seems to be their focus this year. I believe Nsiki said something about that too. Unfortunately I didn't have a story, just a spunky attitude so I'm not sure that will get me on this time. Oh well...maybe next year.
Posted by: Jodi at August 29, 2006 01:12 PM
Scott was the director that conducted my interview. He was really nice. He told me that getting called back has nothing to do with how much you win in the mock game. He said it is a waiting game now - 6 months to 2 years. The camera lady said that there were alot of good groups that were filmed at the Bossier City call back.I am going to try to forget about it so i wont go insane.
Posted by: Kyle at August 29, 2006 03:50 PM
Scott was my casting director. Loved his hair cut! Have to agree with Bitz. He seemed like the kinda guy you could go enjoy a beer with. He kept telling me that alot of the people they know they want to use, have to wait sometimes up to a year before the time is right to use them. Said they knew the lady they wanted to use with Celine months before they used her. It's all in the timing.
Posted by: Shelly at August 29, 2006 10:03 PM
Hi Dwight, who was your director and did you get the 2 cards which says yes or no. You guys if the last day is the 21 I feel like it is over. Unless they continue to keep taping. maybe we should call and ask. what do you think
Posted by: debbie at August 29, 2006 10:56 PM
Debbie,
I wouldn't give up hope just yet. Just like some of the other people have said, there are more shows left to be taped, and I believe the initial tapings are only meant to get them through the first leg of the season. I'm sure there will be more tapings, probably around Christmas time, and even more next spring. I doubt they'll do anymore open casting, because if you total up all the numbers, you gotta believe they have enough people and enough second call back tapes, to get them through an entire season, maybe even more. So just hang in there, and remain calm. It might be a while.
Dwight

Hi everyone, well my curiousity got the best of me and I called la and talked to one of the assistance at dond and she told me that no one will probably be getting any calls and it is too late for the last show of the season which is sept 21. she did say that hopefully it will be picked to be on air the following season, it is all about ratings. So I guess we all have to wait until Dec or so and hope the show is on. any feedback
Posted by: debbie at August 31, 2006 11:15 PM
So that means everybody WATCH the show and give them good ratings!!. That is kinda disappointing though but at least our curiosity is no more! Thanks for that update Debbie!
Posted by: Jodi at September 1, 2006 08:27 AM
So - Debbie....hats off to you if you truly spoke to someone at the production company in LA. But, I have to say, you really spoke to someone?? I have a hard time believing you found a phone number to call someone, better yet, they answered the phone and gave you any kind of information. What number did you call?
Also, there were a lot of cities DOND went to this summer (Des Moines, Richmond, Indianapolis). I am curious if the only people that were cast for this season completed a 2nd interview in their city a day or so after the mass casting calls. Is it possible the DOND casting team selected folks from a video mailed in, or saw a 30 second video and just called someone at home from that short video?
Finally, Endemol USA has a couple of new game shows with Fox and ABC. Does anyone think they may be focusing on launching those new shows and not DOND as much?
Posted by: Austin Texas at September 1, 2006 09:34 AM
well just keep hoping the phone rings, the woman who gave me the info could be wrong, she answered the phone but wasn't a producer. keep waiting they might call and give you a few days to get ready. no one knows. I just would love to get on dond. It would be the best feeling in the world to me and a dream come true.

was anyone, who did the 2nd interview over the phone, told to put R3 and attention so and so on the back of the box that they sent in? what does that mean i wonder.

Still here!!
The show was the best experience of my life, I had so much funn!! The important things I can'nt disclose are the ones that people want to hear!!
It was so glamerous the make up and the hair!! Being treated like a star was priceless!! Howie is so nice too... the models are all so cute and look better in person....it all was just unbelievable. The kind of pressure you fell when playing the game is indescribable!
All in all everyone was so nice to me and they had mega prices to go with the money you could win so...they really uped the anty this year....the show is awesome!!
In regards to more tapings, I know nothing about that...all I know is that if you don't end up getting on to the show it was not your time...some of the personalities I met that were going to be contestants made me feel infiria because they were so hyper and obnoxiouse ...you know what I mean...I started eto really thing of the reasons they picked me...but be yourself and often than not, being just that is all it takes!!
Goodluck guys....will post the date my show will airr when I know!

jodi this is tb and yes they called me for a 2nd interview/ audition. i did my 1st audition at a open casting call here in tulsa. then scott called me back a few weeks later to do an over the phone audition with him asking me questions as i was being filmed. i mean they were back in L.A. and i am here in tulsa so i am assuming thats why we did it over the phone. and thats what i had to send in.
Posted by: tb at September 12, 2006 03:08 PM
I'm still here debbie. Just really busy at work, and with the kids, and fixing my car. Haven't had much computer time, or tv time. Bet your bottom dollar, next week I'll have tv time. Cant' wait for the new season to start. Hope I get to see someone I stood in line with.

I'm still here too, Debbie. And still determined! ; )Did you all see that they just added two new open calls? One tomorrow in Anaheim, CA, and one Sept. 30 in Chicago. So it isn't over yet!
Posted by: Determined One at September 13, 2006 12:26 AM
Would the call come in unavailable format???? I think over the past 2 days I have gotten 2 calls that shows up as unavailable on my caller id, but they leave no message. Any thought??
Posted by: Jodi at September 14, 2006 01:52 PM

I watched the shows tonight..And all I can say is you've got to ne kidding me...Yawn!!!!!!!! Good night ladies...
Posted by: pam johns at September 18, 2006 08:48 PM
I also watched and was pretty interested! Mainly just to see who got picked but now that they have upped the stakes to more than 1 million, they can never go back! It won't be as interesting if they do.
Did anyone see anyone they were in line with for hours?
Posted by: Jodi at September 19, 2006 08:41 AM
I think the second guy might have been at the callbacks in St. Louis when I went. He looked vaguely familiar. I didn't catch where he was from, did anyone else?
I think you're right Jodi, they can never go back to the million dollar prize, they'll lose big in the ratings if they do.
Posted by: Dwight at September 19, 2006 10:03 AM
OK let me 1st start off by saying that the show last night was SOOOO boring!!! Seriously until "maybe" the 3rd guy and starting off with that girl... wow, that wasn't the opener I was hoping for... esp after all we saw at call backs etc. Very disappointed! Hopefully the season will get better:)

Posted by: SHARLA at September 19, 2006 09:43 PM
boy you guys are right. I watched monday and tuesday and I can tell from listening to all of you that we would be fun and exciting. I am so said that they picked the first 2 and not me. ha
I think I would add some excitment but who knows how we would act on stage. Dwight since you were from st. louis were you there at 11.00 or the later show. I am the one who brought tins with cookies in it and a brief case. thought you might remember me. Who knows....Well the last day of live tv is oct 21 so hopefully we have 2 more weeks to get a call and then I have no idea what then. If they are looking for more cities than it doesn't look good.

Deal or no deal is just not going to make it I don't think! Its not as fun as it was last season and the only reason I watch now is to see who got picked. I dont think they will pick up a 3rd season. I'm sick of seeing overweight men sweating all over the stage....that's not appealing!!! And if that's the contestants they picked then bye bye "deal".
Posted by: yo at September 22, 2006 08:39 AM
What's the Deal?
And what is so appealing about this show???
Nothing!!!!!!
Posted by: Pam Johns at September 22, 2006 08:15 PM
If they are only picking people that are poor then bring on the homeless people at least their supporters may be more interesting
Posted by: Pam Johns at September 22, 2006 08:17 PM
Deal or no deal. This show is an example of how far people will go to prostitute themselves for money.

I was at the Everette Casting calling in Washington. Those of you who were first in line and camped out with me, you may remeber me as "#40" HAHAHA. Have to say, that was the best time of my life and I wouldnt hesitate to do it again. Even though the drunk lady kinda ruined things..but hey, I took second in our poker tournament!!! Anyways, it was great to me all that was there....GO ARMY...HOAHHHH

Everyone is 30-50 and the same... the "jobs" the network thinks are going to drive the ratings (preacher, army, truck driver, someone getting married etc... yawn!), but that is SO not true... I mean they are HORRIBLE!!!BORING!!! None of my friends watch the show anymore... sad!!!! I hope one of us makes it bc we will be GRRREAT! Is anyone else as bored with the show now as I am?

I was at the Everett casting today too. I have my call back on Monday. What do they want to see in my supporters? I am trying really hard to just be myself and pick people that I thought of first - but just not sure what the producers are looking for. Anyway - it should be really fun to play the pretend game - I'm nervous already!!!

I have a couple questions. Do they really see 3000 to 5000 people in 3 hours or do they extend the time? Do they have a cut off where they start sending people away. Also, do you think it is better at front of line, middle or back? Do they ask each person a different question that you have 30 seconds to respond to? If so, does anyone have an example? Thanks in advance.
Posted by: chi at September 25, 2006 06:10 PM
CHI - At our open casting, they saw 3300 people and I was in line for 4 hours. I arrived right when they started taking people in and there was a huge line! At one point a staff member walked by and said, "Don't worry we will see everyone in line". I don't think it matters for front, middle or back - they know what they are looking for. The casting director will tell you in a large group what he wants, how it will work and what NOT to say - which plenty of people still said. *sigh*
We had groups of 10 people standing around a table with one casting person - I had the Director of casting - Neil - very nice guy. Each person gets a 30 second "commercial" to sell themselves to the casting person.
Do not go OVER the top - smile lots and have a unique story or thought about what to do with a million dollars.
Some stories from our casting call:
1. A girl who is going to be a surrogate and she was very bubbly.
2. A professional jump rope competitor who has performed with Cirque de Soleil and is a school teacher.
3. An Olympic athlete in the discus.
4. And then me.
I just got home from the interview and pretend game. We had a blast. From 3300 - I was one of 120 who was taped. (More are happening tomorrow). It was such an amazing experience. I made a deal for $85,000 and my case that I picked had $10 - so my deal was good and that was fun.
From what Chad told me, every tape from the 120 will go on to the producers - will they watch all 120 contestants - No. He said they fast forward if they aren't interested, or if the people aren't smiling. No secrets - they tell you what they want from you. It is just a matter of being yourself and hoping that you are what they want.
Last thing - I could get a call in as early as two weeks to as late as 2 years or never.
It was a blast! Good luck to everyone else trying out!

Hey, t.
Congratulations!! Sounds like your callback audtion went great. I thought I was too boring and told my little boy, who was actually the one that told me to get up on Saturday morning to go to the audtion, that we had fun in line meeting people but mommy was probably not going to be called. I was soo nervous and still in shock when I returned my callback message that I did not even ask any questions except where the location would be. Mine is tomorrow afternoon(Tues). I was outside washing my car and had my phone charging, so I missed it and called really late. Told them to call even after 1am and I would answer. I got a call withing 15 minutes. Is the 120 for Monday only? My supporters are so excited for tomorrow. We are a bit worried because one is pregnant and may get too wound up. Of course, my son will be there!

Hey T! Congrats on being one of the 120 who got a callback! : )
Just curious... What did the casting director tell people NOT to say? (You mentioned that some people went ahead and make the mistake of saying what he said to NOT say, and I was wondering what you meant.)Also, did HE say not to be OVER the top, or was that your opinion based on something else? I'd like to know more about this.
Thanks! : )
Posted by: Determined One at September 26, 2006 05:53 AM
T - one more thing...what exactly did the casting directors say that they wanted, other than for all of you to smile, be yourself, and have a unique story about what you would do with a million dollars? Anything else?
Posted by: Determined One at September 26, 2006 05:58 AM
I going for an audition this Saturday in Chicago. Please tell me some tips on how to get selected for the show. What would be a good answer about $1,000,000.

I was at the Everett Casting Call, and I too was one of the people whom got the second audition. My best recommendation to anyone... "Is try-out". Even if you don't get the call back, it's worth doing it. I have NO REGRETS! And I know it's hard for people to understand.. "be yourself", but seriously.. "Just be yourself". They already have in mind what they're looking for, and if you match that.. they great. My question to those who went to the second interview process, is how many got to choose between card 1 and 2?
Posted by: John Doe at September 26, 2006 02:56 PM
do you always get offered the card #1 and #2 or is that only if they want you back after your second interview
Posted by: j at September 27, 2006 12:56 AM
so what is the normal day for DOND to come one?? is it only mondays now??
Posted by: yo at September 27, 2006 01:58 PM
Thanks T! I didn't want to camp out if I didn't have to. What makes you unique? You told about others in your group. I hope you had fun. I'm going to! Did they ask questions from the application???
Posted by: chi at September 27, 2006 03:21 PM
I went to my second audtion yesterday and was just wondering if anyone was given any clues as to whether or not they were chosen. Cards? Promises? I promised myself I wouldn't get so wound up hoping like the guy announced yesterday at the holding room. He said to just forget about the audtion and go on with normal life. It's not working!! So....if anyone out there knows if they're on...please share!! It'll help me go on and consider it as a great memory that made my supporters happy or continue hoping. You don't even have to share details:) Just whether or not you were given a clue if you're going to go beyond the 2nd call. Thanks. Good luck to everyone!!
Posted by: Wilbur at September 27, 2006 04:08 PM
As Wilbur has asked, please share if you have any information about moving beyond the 2nd audition from Mon/Tues Bellevue callbacks!!!
Posted by: Tess at September 27, 2006 04:25 PM
Wilbur- How did your second interview go? Do you think that you and your team did your best? Were you given a chance to play an additional game, or was it over after the first mock game?
Does anyone have the answer to this question, what's the importance of the "choose between case one and two" If you are asked or not asked this question in your 2nd interview, is that a good sign or a bad sign?
I've noticed a lot of people here haven't received that option, and few have... just wondering if any of you know the importance of that additional game.
Anyway Wilbur, I wouldn't worry to much about it, just go back to your normal everyday life and chaulk it up as a great memory that you and your supports can talk about for a while. Think about how lucky you were to receive a call back for the orignal audition (3300 people, 120 called back... anyone who got in the second round is lucky enough to have been granted that second opportunity).
Posted by: John Doe at September 27, 2006 05:15 PM
I'm going to the casting in CHI on Sat. Do we need to bring anything with us? Do we need to have an application filled out beforehand?
Posted by: D at September 27, 2006 05:36 PM
D,
You won't need an application before hand, although it might be easier to print it out at home, fill it out, and have it in hand, when they start taking them, rather than trying to fill it out on the sidewalk, and trying to answer all the questions standing in line. If you fill it out ahead of time, you have plenty of time to think about your answers. These answers are pretty important, such as "what would you do with a million dollars?" They're looking for unique answers, something they can use on the show for drama purposes. Remember this, whatever you do at the table during the open casting call, SMILE, SMILE, SMILE, and be yourself, be excited, and be careful not to pour it on too thick. If you're cocky or obnoxious, you probably won't be getting called back. Try to be funny, these casting directors love to laugh, (they don't get much to laugh about all day, so keep that in mind).
Wilbur,
It's been almost four months since my callback, and I've all but given up hope, except for the fact that as long as the show is on, they may need you or me. I figure if they blow through enough contestants, eventually they'll HAVE to call me!!!!
Posted by: Dwight at September 27, 2006 05:56 PM
If the casting call is at 10am what time is a good time to get there. I cannot sit there over night but can get there very early. Any thoughts? Also I don't know if I can be funny under presure, what else might grab there attention?
Posted by: Dee at September 27, 2006 06:10 PM
dwight, what are we going to do....I feel the need to be on the show. ha. I see myself on stage when I am watching deal or no deal. well I will keep my fingers crossed for all of you. are there any other websites that have info on it that we can talk to? just wondering.....keep on chatting, i love it but would love it more if I got on...

Hi Everyone!
I am having so much fun with this! I am not holding my breath for a call to be on the show - but my friends and I had such an absolute blast being interviewed.
The one on one interview was actually a lot of fun. It feels silly to be standing there, not staring at the camera - but knowing full well that camera is definately there.
How do I know not to be over the top? The casting director had a guy at his table right before me that literally jumped up on the table. Neil told him, "whoa whoa back off". The guy did not get picked to go to the next round. I was up next and I actually side sat on top of the table and leaned into Neil so he could really hear me (it was really really loud in there) but I didn't scream at him or get too crazy, so I guess I was just different and spontaneous enough without doing too much.
From Bellevue - it was 120 total spread out over two days if I understood right.
I was not asked to pick from the cards. Not sure what that says about me. Perhaps I didn't have the IT they were looking for but I am not worried. As much as I would die if I got a call - we really had the best bonding experience before, during and after the game. It was an experience like nothing else.
I just hope they never air bloopers or outtakes from their auditions. I would die of embarrassment. Chad made me divulge soem embarrassing facts about myself!!
If anyone hears anything from Seattle/Bellevue - please keep us posted. We want to live vicariously through you!!
Posted by: T at September 27, 2006 11:20 PM
Oh yeah - DO NOT use your 30 seconds to tell them what a big fan of the show you are. DO NOT tell them you want to meet Howie. These are things EVERYONE wants to do. DO NOT say you'll use the money to pay off your debt - won't we all.
My advice - practice your 30 second commercial with friends or in the mirror. You need to be comfortable talking to them. Some of the people were so nervous they could barely speak - sorry but that won't look good on tv. Practice, practice, practice - be true to yourself, practice smiling or bring Vaseline with you.
Good luck!
Posted by: T at September 27, 2006 11:24 PM
Sorry... :)
If you get stuck at the initial casting call - they will ask a question from the application to help you out.
Fill out the application with a lot of thought. I was immediately asked to go behind the screen that same day and my call back was set up right there.
BUT another person I know didn't get the call back that day. They read her application that night and then she got the call to come to the call back. If you get a "no thank you" the day of the casting call - don't give up hope. You never know.

How long did the one on one interview and the mock game take everyone from begining to end?
Posted by: jd at September 28, 2006 12:19 AM
Thanks so much for the info and the answers to my questions, T. I really appreciate it! Please keep us updated if you hear anything, and also please post if you think of anything else we all should know. We all can't get enough info, I think! : )
Posted by: Determined One at September 28, 2006 12:30 AM
This 30-second commercial...is it supposed to be like an actual commercial? Or just 30 seconds of talking about yourself?
Posted by: D at September 28, 2006 09:43 AM
If you haven't auditioned as of yet, you should be concerned with "how long the interview and or the mock game" takes. You should really focus on your 30 second commercial, if you don't get past that... it all becomes a moot point.

Hello you DOND lovers! My husband and I are both attending the Chicago open call casting. I am just curious if everyone will be seen and how early we should show up at the location. The times say, 10A- 1P. I thought about arriving around 7A.M. too early or too late?? I plan on taking an application already filled out... do we need photos of supporters or any useful information at all?? Also, have any suggestions for an affordable hotel but nice and in the general location of the Navy Pier. I am really excited. I would appreciate any information you can provide.. Thanks for all your help and tips.
Signed,
Goonie smiles heading to chicago!

For people trying out for DOND, Don't plan on getting there too early - you will have to wait in line for hours anyway. People who sleep out or get in line before the sun are just trying to be first in line. The show will see everyone.
Posted by: db at September 28, 2006 02:32 PM
What is it with some of you? Some people are so nice and wish others well UNTIL....they realize others may have a better chance of getting on the show. I find it hard to believe that Nsinki is on this blog if she's really on the show!! I'm not one who's auditioned, only here to observe and write an article.
Posted by: THADEUS at September 28, 2006 03:53 PM
THADEUS
Who are you writing an article for? It's hard to explain the emotions and anxiety you experience as you go thru the process of the audition. Maybe it would be good to write your article as you say, "an observer" then go thru the process of auditioning and compare the two.I had my 2nd interview Tues with mock game...what an experience. For those of you going to Chicago just realize you will either be in line the night before or the morning or the afternoon, time length will vary by city I imagine Chicago would have a large turn out. I went to Everett WA got in line at 5am they saw me around 11am

I hope that the people who think that this show is horrible and boring never get on the show. This show is great entertainment for just about all people across the board. Our country is made up of all walks of life and the people that are on the show are just that, everyday people. We already have the beautiful models on the show,a great host and then the chance to change the lives of everyday people is priceless. God knows we have enough shows that show us the other side. Staged pretty faces that are to skinny and think that if the world isen't like them then they don't count. How sad to EVER think that you would be better then the lucky person that got up there. Again, it's not rocket science, it's luck.

AMEN, JUSTREADING! This is a great show, with amazing entertainment value. Check out the ratings each week.
This is why they have 3000+ people coming to these auditions, each of us that show up to these casting calls all have the dream of making it on the show. We should all be supportive of those choosen to be aired. Obviously they have something about them that the producers saw and though enough to put on TV, and give them a chance to win a million dollars.
I met some really great people at my open casting call, and I would wish them nothing but luck to move on. At least I could say we stood next to them in line.. and I'm sure most of them would do the same if I had made it..
Even though it's a long shot, I would recommend that everyone try-out.

You know, I auditioned 4 months ago at the end of september and I can't believe the comment I read tonight. This show is a winner, it can change someone live. I would love nothing more than to hear my phone ring. I haven't missed watching a show and I love it. I would be honored to be called to be on deal or no deal. let's be happy for those who get on and hope we all get a chance of a lifetime. I think it is a wonderful show and I know it will be on for along time.

Thank you John Doe, I think that it is a great show for families to watch together, which we don't have many of them anymore. I agree that we should all be happy for those very lucky people. Boy what a great chance of a life time for some. The ratings are great and I think that this show will be on for a long time. It's that one chance for some people to change their lives and have fun doing it. Not to be judged by some people that for some reason can't be truly happy for others and only think that it's about how you look. For all of you that get on the show, I wish you the very best and I will cheer for all of you. Good luck,be happy that you got chosen. And you didn't have to have that perfect face, body, hair and so on. They liked you for you, how great is that.

Hi everyone,
Has anyone here sent in a videotaped audition as their first step, and then gotten a callback? (Ie. Not having ever gone to an open call.) Or does anyone know anyone who has sent in a tape and then gotten a callback? I am curious about what happens in these circumstances. Thanks!
Posted by: Determined One at September 29, 2006 12:05 AM
Deal needs to pick a night and stick with it. No one knows when it is coming on and seriously...goingn up against greys anatomy...NO, not good for ratings.
People have a right to their opinions on this board. So those who like the show and those who don't can speak freely. The season is not that good so far...no one has really come close to the million. Some of the people they have picked have been quite interesting but for the most part, they didn't do good with their picks.
And why would Nisiki not be on here? If one of us got called we could still be on this site! I doubt she was making up what she posted!
Posted by: yo at September 29, 2006 08:54 AM
Yes I sent in just a video tape and received a call about 6 weeks later, my phone interview was about 45 minutes. That was in July and have heard nothing since. But from the way it sounds they tell everybody the same thing.
Posted by: pam at September 29, 2006 10:33 AM
They are on the same time now every week. The only reason last week was different is because it was premier week. You are right everyone does have a right to their own opinions, thats what makes these boards what they are. So people can speak what they think. Not everyone is going to agree. As far as the people they have picked, they have all been what the USA is all about. Many different people living their own dream. As far as not picking the right case and not getting the million. Again it is just luck. Either you pick the right case or you don't. That's what gets everyone gong, yelling at your TV, saying oh! you should have picked 10 :) If everyone won the million we would get really bored with that. But I sooooo hope that someone can win it this season. Good luck you everyone out there that is trying to get on the show. Cheers
Posted by: justwatching at September 29, 2006 10:38 AM
whoever is justwatching, I love your attitude. If we all go through this world with such critism and negatively that would be bad. I haven't been called yet but I keep hoping and I am one of those who run home, sit with the family and watch this show. It is my enjoyment of the week. Dont think my life is boring but I do love the show and I do visualize myself on stage. wishful dreaming but whatelse can we do. I think it is great that they are picking all kinds of people to hopefully win the money. All I can speak for is myself but It would be the world to me to be on the show and whoever said you have to prostitute yourself for the money, that is awful. who wouldn't want to play the game and have the chance of winning ....;Keep dreaming you guys. you never know.
Posted by: debbie at September 29, 2006 01:39 PM
Thanks for the info Pam, and congrats on getting a call after sending in your videotape! I am hoping for the same thing to happen with me. One question: did you have to videotape your 45 minute follow up conversation and send that to them? I've heard some people who went to the open call had to do that, and I was wondering if they did the same thing for those of us who sent in a videotape to begin with.
In any case, I am thinking they must have seriously been considering you or they wouldn't have spent that long on the phone with you. That's great!
Good luck to you with getting on the show! : )
P.S. What state are you from?
Posted by: Determined One at September 29, 2006 03:22 PM
Debbie, thank you very much. I truly try to always be positive and not judge others or who they are. Life is just way to short to ever think that one is better then the other. To be able to just be yourself, play a game and maybe change your life is a once in a life time thing. God knows we already have enough bad stuff to think about. I soooooo hope that you get a call someday to be on the show with your entire family and not have to sit at home and watch. If we don't dream that it can happen, it never will. Good Luck to you.
Posted by: justwatching at September 29, 2006 05:33 PM
Debbie, also when I read stuff about big fat sweaty guy's playing and who wants to watch them. I just can't imagine ever beings so mean. The funny thing is, is that the percentage of our population is not the pretty faces that we see in mags and on TV. This is real America. And again, one that the whole family can watch and follow. Because most kids no how to count to 26 and get the game. When was the last time a show was on that brought families together. Just alittle family time, instead of video games and computers. My hat goes off the creators of the show.
Posted by: justwatching at September 29, 2006 05:39 PM
Just watching, don't know who you are but I like your attitude. You know life is full of up and downs. It is amazing how some years or better than others. My sister passed away of breast cancer 5 years ago and it has been one thing after another. You work all day, come home to teenagers and a husband and you are worn out. my parents have been through alot with my sisters death and it makese you appreciate life. TO Me deal or no deal is a fantasy that I would love to partake in. I try to tell my teenagers it is what is in the heart and your personality that makes you, not the other fake stuff. Sorry I am on a rampage but people cutting down other people makes me sick because one day you can look the best you ever looked and the next it can be taken away from you. One last thing, I am now almost 48 wow years old and in highschool I weighed around 190, now I weigh 120 and I have to tell you that is why I am all about the inside of a person. Let's give everyone the same respect . I am still the same person but you are right people treat you different which is wrong. Lately, though I sit on the couch eating my icecream and watching the show. So that is my life. Maybe one day we all can think of a great reality show and be the producers. Any ideas
Posted by: debbie at September 29, 2006 06:14 PM
Debbie, How funny, if you only knew how much we were alike. I am 49, my entire natual family is gone. My sister died 9 years ago,my dad 3 months before her and my mother just died. But you know what, I am so fortunate that I had them in my life for as long as I did. But I still have a great 81 year old step-father, that is more like a real father to me. Some people never get that much time with their loved one's. I too have a daughter and I have always told her to appreciate the real stuff in life, not all the other junk. Cause at the end of the day you have to look in the mirror and really love what looks back. You should be very proud of yourself for the weight that you have lost. But again, I am sure that inside you are still the same person. It's difference is just how people treat you. Sad!! So you just enjoy that ice cream and continue dreaming about being on the show. If I ever get on the show, I am going to just say, Debbie I am justwatching you. :) Then you will know who I am. I only wish I could think of a reality show. But then we couldn't be on the show. :) We would have to work. :) Take care and know that someday your turn will come. I will be thinking of you when I watch the show tonite.
Posted by: justwatching at September 29, 2006 10:16 PM
No they did not ask to video tape the conversation. The left a message on my voice mail cell phone and left a number for me to call them and we talked for a long time and they seemed very interested, however after reading everyone else's posts they were interested in a lot of them as well. Also you asked what state I was from (Florida)

Hi Just watching you, well we went out to eat and I rushed home and watched deal or no deal. I think the marriage ;proposal was sweet, made me tear up but now I am worried that I didn't have a great story. Married 18 years, 2 teenage daughters, mom, dad, and a brother. Told embarassing stories but that won't help me, because they wont repeat it. ha. So hear I sit, you pumped me up, I really thought I would have gotten a call back since may 29,2006. Has anyone been called back after 4 months? Just wondering or should I just keep eating my icecream everynight. ha
Posted by: debbie at September 30, 2006 09:20 AM
I know that was really sweet lastnight. I also teared up. 105k and a diamond ring, not bad. Please don't ever give up. I really don't think that this show is about a sad story, or being a fireman or someone who wants to get married. Not like Extreme Home and some of the other shows. It's just about many different people with many different walks of life. As the show keeps going, I am sure they will start calling more people back. Just think about all the people they have had to interview and tapes they have to watch. So just think positive , keep watching the show and eating your ice cream :)And when the time is right you will get a call. It's sounds to me like you are just what were all about... everyday people trying to have fun. Good Luck

Thanks Just watching, I hope you are pyschic.Hope to also meet you oneday. I don't know where you live but I live in st. Louis. I did it my coffee icecream with hot fudge last night. It was great. I have told everyone that I thought I was going on the show and now they keep asking me when. how embarrassing but oh well let's keep hoping our phone will ring. I think if it really rings and it is the show I think I would scream so much. My husand played a joke on me and blocked his number and acted like he was with dond . I was so excited and then recognized his
voice. I was so mad at him. Men, who needs them.
ha The day dond really calls me, I probably won't believe it. well hope to hear from you guys soon. I cant give up yet, only 4 months, maybe I will get on for christmas, valentines day, easter, who knows, let's just get a call......

Hey All
Just wanted to say I attended the Chicago Open Call and I had a ball!!!!!! Even if they don't call just meeting all the different people was rewarding. I never knew I could have so much fun with people I didn't even know. We got their at around 2p.m. the night before and there was only 7 people in line so we were right at the front with a family that came all the way from Alabama!!! Everyone was so friendly. If I had to do it all over again......I definately would!!!

so sasha, did they give you a time limit and is tomorrow the call backs from the first day. was today the day you had 20 second to talk
Posted by: debbie at September 30, 2006 06:58 PM
Hi Sasha and all..
I was also at the Chicago casting call today - what fun! I didn't get there until about 6am and there was about 1000 people in line. Waited in line for 8 hours, long day, but so much fun. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and good luck to everyone. My group was just asked to leave so I am assuming I will not be getting a call. Did most people get additional questions on the first interview. 20 seconds - it is so hard to express who and what you are - impossible really. But since they already know what they are looking for it is just a quick way to find the lucky few who meet their needs. Would love to hear from anyone that does get a call back from Chicago so please post the good news!!!!!
Did anyone get an interview today???

Don't give up yet, when I went to Everett WA casting call I left the table thinking I failed only to get home that night and get a message on my phone to go for an audition 2 days later

I know, I would love to meet you someday. I was telling my daughter about you today. And she said, wouldn't that be neat if you meet her someday. You never know. That is mean what your husband did to you! Boy he would be cooking dinner for a week. :) I am sure that if they ever called me I would just faint. My husband would have to pick me up off the ground. Don't be embarrassed yet my dear, like I said you just never know when they my need you. And at least you made it to the casting call. What fun. For all of you that went to the Chicago casting call good luck to each and ever one of you. How many people were there? Has anyone gotten a call back yet? What a great thing to think about, instead of all the negitives in the world. Just if only for a min.

I typed so much. What happened? I had great tips because I went to casting call today 9/30 in Chicago. The casting gentelman allowed me to speak for another minute without my group. Who knew??? Best of luck to all and don't be dismayed.

Hellllo you crazy people. Did anyone attend Chicago's open call casting?? I heard there were so many people there and even some cool woman was applying to get on the show wearing a briefcase with the number 5 on it. It was an awesome costume with even painted $$ glasses. I seen a picture of her on www.nbc5.com. I was just curious if anyone got a call back or if someone knows if she made it on. She was definately one of a kind. People in the long lines said they know she got a call back. I am still hoping I will get a phone call. Anyone get a call back for Chicago??

Hey want a call back. I seen that girl today. She was a lot of fun. There were a lot of people in line next to me that thought she worked for the show or was hired by Deal or No Deal. It turns out she was one of us just trying to get herself or her husband on the show. I actually talked to her while she talked to us while she was walking by for about 10 minutes. A really cool chick that I would love to see get on the show. They were telling us that Chicago had the biggest turnout ever for open call casting. What a city and what a crowd! I guess they were estimating between 10-20 thousand people to turn up easily. I drove down from Wisconsin and I don't think they were very impressed with me. I said my 20 second part and after everyone was done they asked one to stay and told the rest of us we were allowed to leave. They actually use a stop watch while you talk. Oh well maybe next time. I am definately rooting for the lucky case 5 girl. She was a trip from heaven! Hey I did see her picture online. How cool she made front page! I heard she did get a call back for Tuesday. Even the Casting Producer loved her and when he spotted her in the crowd while he was walking through with his mega phone he grabbed her and walked for a bit down the line. I seen tons of people asking for her picture. Does anyone know for sure if she made it on and if we don't get a call back in the next day does that mean our chance for the call back is over? Wished I was standing next to her in line. She was dancing and cheering "no deal" and I was thinking someone outta bump her to the front of the line. She deserves to win and I hope she gets on tv so I can see her again. Please let me know if you find out if she made it and actually how many people they seen, how many got call backs and the time frame to possibly still receive one.

Hey. Went to the CHI call yesterday. Nuts!!! Does anyone have any insight into this? I did my 20-second speech....and after everyone at my table was done, the casting director asked 7 of the girls to leave, while he asked me to stay, as well as two other women. He asked us all another question: he told the first woman he'd let her know, he gave the second woman a yellow slip for a call back, and he wrote an "M" on my application and told me he'd let me know. Can the "M" stand for maybe? Hast this ever happened to anyone, and if so, have you ever received a call back?
Thanks.
Posted by: D at October 1, 2006 01:24 PM
D,
On my application, the producer (lady) wrote Maybe, in the upper left corner. I know this, because at the callback, they give your application back to you, only to give it back to them (?????) Anyway, it said "Maybe" "wants to pave driveway for mother, who lives on side of mountain"
That was my answer for "what would you do with a million dollars" I think my answer was different, and at the end of the day, they were actually looking for one-of-a-kind answers to that question. My answer apparently worked, however, nothing else at the moment appears to have impressed them. My hope is slowly disappearing, and reality is finally setting back in. It appears it was just not to be for me. I hope it is meant for you, and everyone else posting here.
Good Luck
Dwight

Hello, I went to the chicago call. It was a lot of fun!! Met some really nice people that I hope will make it on the show. As far as a call back I have yet to receive mine, however I just went today (sunday). We waited yesterday for 4 hours and bearly moved in line, then we were informed that from where we were in line there was a 8 hour wait until they would see us. They then offered us passes to come back the next day. I had to work that night so we quickly picked up the passes and drove home. I think it was very possible that there was 10,000 people!!! I kind of feel bad for the casting staff, I wonder how they remember all those faces????
Posted by: Amber at October 1, 2006 08:26 PM
Amber did you finally get seen? How did it go. I am sure that is the biggest casting call they have ever had. Shot I bet they have to have at least three days of call backs. I don't think amny people know of this site either, I wish they did. Good luck to everyone in CHI.

I also attended the Chicago open call on Saturday got there at like 930 am after running a 5k race the Race for the cure and there were already thousands of people in line. It was really hot all day then starting raining. After waiting 4 hours someone passed out a form saying we could come back Sunday for a guaranteed interview. We came back Sunday at like 10am and got in right away! We were seperated into groups of 10 and had to answer the question "what is the crazies thing you have ever done" The girl who interviewed us did not seem interested in anything anyone had to say in the group. I wish we would of had a more upbeat person to interview with. She was basically looking away the hold time, didnt laugh at anything anyone said and no one was asked to stay or anything afterwards. I thought I had some interesting stuff to say so I guess I will just have to wait and see. Was anyone asked to stay after the 30 second interview? I don't see how they can pick someone from only 30 seconds?!
Posted by: Maureen at October 1, 2006 09:56 PM
Maureen,
Be grateful for the 30 seconds - we only had 20 seconds on Saturday.... and yes, I know how you feel the guy I had was the same way. But at least you tried out and had the chance, that is what I am telling myself. You have to have faith - that if it is meant for you, they will call!

My mom received her callback today. We will all be going back Tuesday. Curious about how many people will receive callbacks. I assume a lot with the big turnout. Good luck to all!

I just did some investigative work. A site that gives a rundown on upcoming gameshow highlights got my mind going. Someone by the name of Elna Himmler is scheduled to be on this Friday October 6. Pulled up her name on the search engine and found a myspace! Viola...she announces that her show airs this Friday. Went back on her comments, blogs from people and she gave away how she got on with a unique future plan...comments from friends gave away that she filmed sometime in early August...and sounds like she probably wins good money coz her boyfriend comments that they will fix up her dorm room. This is what happens when they put a young person on a show. So...timeline ..audition was either in another city/state than hers(WA) because there were no auditions held there in May(or she may have been in Vegas like NSinki)...or she sent in a tape. They taped in late July, early August(she had to return to Cali to tape due to something not happening the first trip a few days before). So...here it is audition...2 months to get a call if chose...1 month later to tape...2 months for the taping to air on TV. Six months...from audition to show...
The girl is gorgeous..a former Jr. Miss and sounds smart and goofy.

She wants to open a horseriding/therapeutic school for kids.

The thing I don't get are the "Maybes" - some people got Call Back slips on the spot...and others got "Maybes" in Chicago. Will the "Maybes" have a shot at getting a call? I just can't figure out the system!
Posted by: D at October 2, 2006 09:52 AM
that system is totally different than what mine was like. I would think the maybe's would get a call if the definite yes's didn't do as well during their mock game show interview. but that's just my thought!
I got my call back 3 days later and have since been waiting 3 months for another. I have def. given up especially since they have done more open casting calls. why would they do more open calls and go through all of that if they wanted any of us from the other calls. I know for sure of one person from my town that got a call back and so far I think she is the only one but we are a small town compared to chicago, las vegas, and new york...very small. oh well...good luck to all you newbies and I hope you get on the show! keep us posted if you do get a callback.
nsiki,
have you foudn out your air date? the girl who got called from here already knows her date so I wondered if you did too???

Talk about a "Turn-out"! Congrats to those whom attended the Open Casting Call in Chicago. I told you, it's was all worth it, eh? Even if you didn't receive a pass or a call back to the next round, you still had a blast doing it, didn't you?
Now does anyone know the number of people who received a call back or moved onto the second round? Best of luck to EVERYONE who tried out!!

Justwatching, yes I did get seen, surprisingly on the 2nd day it wasnt too bad, they were probably done with everybody by 2 oclock. We waited maybe 1 1/2 hours to get in. I'm pretty sure that I failed my interview, the guy looked away and didn't seem too interested, I think that I may have tried too hard!! Oh well, it was fun anyway, and a good learning experience.

After reading noname's comments, I feel so worthless. I followed the hints and saw the gal's website. That contestant sounds too perfect. Young, attractive-looks like an amerasian Barbie with her blond beautiful loving boyfriend, religous(goes to a well known not so affordable college, horses..starwars fanatic...beauty contestant...definitely not suffering financially with a dorm and riding and all. Looking back in my path behind me, that could've been me at that age. The world was in front of me to conquer and I had all the time in the world to plan my audition with all the right answers and image. What about years later, where all of US normal ordinary folks are? Middle age, working, house bills, kids, teens, lack of time for ourselves, let alone, having to drive from work to go to the Auditions and trying not to look tired and act somewhat chirpy in front of not too friendly casting people. Weathered with mileage. My hopes to even get on this show have been shattered after seeing this vibrant girl. Yes, they take people from all walks of life, but what about us ordinary people that share a common reason for wanting the million? What about the more soft spoken? She looks like she's the product of an asian mother and military or businessman father who may have been stationed at a third world country or met in the USA after she struggled to come here for a better life. The older sis looks like she has a different father. Yes, call me bitter. This is reality. I've ultimately given up on getting on this show because it now has transformed into the O.C.,Laguna Beach, 90201, beautiful perfect people show. As I've read in this site, there are many that share the same feelings. We all get a glimmer of hope from being called back. Feel special for a while. We try and wonder if we were too over the top, held too much back, not interesting enough..as we wait for a final call. It's all the same in the world. You have to be loud, outgoing, beautiful, and willing to do what others say and want to be IN. A lot of you will be upset with what I say, but a lot of you will relate. Don't worry this is my first and last blog. I'm no longer hoping.

HI
I just got back to work I had a 3 week vacation , cause of all the stress from my show...it was lots of fun but I was axhausted by the time it was all said and done. They called me on the 24 of July after auditioning in vagas at the end of may and then I did'nt tape till end of Aug so during this whole time I had to do alot...like get them some more photo's and basically the producer called me everyday and was talking about how he plans to set up my show and what I would like to do.
I'm annoyed that Thadeus "the observer" thinks I made it up. The things I could tell you about the show that wuld make you believe me are just those very things I'm not allowed to tell.
They make you sign a contract saying that they can sue you for a large sum of money if you blab!
I met Niel who is just awesome, he is in charge of the contestant casting he looks at all the tapes and beside the excecutive producer scott, can pick who every he wants.
I had so much fun with the hair and make up and the wardrobe. they tell you what kind of stuff they want you to wear and then you bring it with you, when you get there they don't even look at it and just start throwing other clothes at you!!
You're treated like a start and its awesome, Howie is so funny, I only got to meet him when they called my name to get on the stage( I was kinda star struck at first) but hje was funny and they told me some of the things he would ak me and when it would be my que to say something. We also discussed what i was going to say and showed me all the camera angles and where I'm suppose to look.
It was so nerv wreacking I was holding on to the table most of the time because I felt like my knees would bukle.
It was an awesome experience, something that no one can ever take away from me. Watch me on the 16nth of Oct my show will be the last one on that day because the other half is on the 19th.
I'm a skinny black girl and Nsiki is not my real name but the name I use on the show is a foriegn one cause I'm from another country.
The models are so great and everyone is rooting for you, its amaizing. They say they want you to win as much money as you can cause NBC pays the big bucks and where you shoot the show is just tye production company. You can see the officers from NBC though because they have to make sure that the game is being played correctly and they are the ones that know whats in the suit cases.
Well I don't want to say too much, I just have been relaxing and detoxing from the whole thing, I was just emotionaly drained....I've never dealt with that kind of money before so it was nerve wreacking.
Wishing all of you the best of luck..DOND is a life changing experience and if it never happens for you, don't be in total dispare its just a game of chances and making it on there is a chance in its self!!
I feel so lucky to be alive and I'm in my 20 early 20's and so this just does'nt happen to young people like me...to get a head start on life like this is just a blessing.
Hopefully I have'nt spilled the beans too much but I just wanted to share this with you guys so you can know that its just not all fun, it could go really wrong jus like that lady who got 7k .
Posted by: Nsiki at October 2, 2006 02:21 PM
well I believe you Nsiki and I think its awesome. it sounds like you won enough to make you happy. I hope so! I can't wait to watch your show.
so how do you feel about them doing more open casting calls? do you think its a lost cause for those who did the earlier open calls in June or July?? From the ratings I think Deal is doing pretty well but its' crazy that they would need such a large pool of contestants. Please share your thoughts since you've been there!
Posted by: me at October 2, 2006 03:27 PM
Well nski, i will be watching you for sure. sounds great. my audition was may 30 and i played the mock game and did the card 1 and 2. Do you think 4 months is to long. I really thought I was what they were looking for but now it is 4 months.do you think 4 months is to long and I should give up???
Posted by: debbie at October 2, 2006 05:31 PM
Debbie;
So you were given the "card 1 & 2" trick, and haven't heard anything after 4 months? Well they did tell you it could be up to six months if you were selected, right? That's a bummmer.. I too received the card 1 and 2 thing, and thought for sure that I was in.. but now I'm going to reconsider and not think about it.
I would do like Scott suggest, and just go about your normal everyday life like the audition never existed. It's pointless to dwell on something that is totally out of our control. Chaulk it up as a great memory, and even a better dream.

While I did not attend the casting call in Chicago, my girlfriend attended and received a call back! Today was the call back. They told her to bring 4 to 7 supporters (of which I am one). It was a lot of fun. We were at the hotel for 2 to 3 hours. We played a mock game and the person who hosted the game had a lot of energy and was very thorough. We walked away with $0.1, but the entire experience gave me a rush. My girlfriend's husband was one of her supporters, and the mock host asked him to come back Wednesday and bring 4 to 7 supporters. The host assured him that if he is chosen, it does not lessen his wife's odds of being chosen. They told us that if you are not chosen, they will not contact you. If you are chosen, it could take anywhere between 2 to 4 months, but they made it clear that we are NOT to contact them. Even if we are not chosen, the whole experience had me on cloud 9! Good luck to everyone who received a call back in Chicago!

Hi BIddy, this is really weird that they told you 2-4 months. I have never heard that and I am now real;y discouraged. They told us 1 month to 2 years. It has been 4 months and I guess i should give up. I did get the 1 and 2 card but I thouoght I would be called by now. I can't believe it chicago they said 2=4 months. anyone know anything about that....
Posted by: debbie at October 2, 2006 10:46 PM
Well I' m not sure about the waiting time, I just think if you're it they'll let you know soon enough...I really think that if you've made a impression they'll let you know as soon as possible because they'll have you in the show line up already for the season.
When they called me they knew evrything at that point, when I was suppose to shoot and the day they would iar it.
My advice would be don't let this concuse you because its something thats really out of your controll.
They told us in Vegas that if you don't get a call in 4 months then it was more likely that you never will. Which is sad...they said not to keep trying to call them..they'll call you kind of a thing!!
So I was really getting nervouse and they called in 2 months...I think they know when they want you and to tell the trueth there was something deffarent about it and I knew after the 2nd interview that I was in because my casting lady made me think so.
I was here last interview for the day and she said that she had been waiting for me the whole day and called me by name as she game me a tight hug!!
So just really think and if it was that kind of a special interaction then maybe you're just towards the end of the season and they are still going to call you...who knows?
Posted by: Nsiki at October 3, 2006 12:07 AM
Hi nski, was your director at the interview mary rachel foot. I loved her and I felt like she really liked me. She told me she has her finger crossed for me and wwould love to see me on the show but the fnal decision is up to the producer. Do you think she has input... I need some wishful thinking but it has been 4 months. what do you think
Posted by: debbie at October 3, 2006 08:37 AM
I attended the casting in Chicago Saturday with my Mom. We arrived at 7 AM, stood in the line for around 9 hours and we finally got our turn with the 20 seconds. I must say our experience sounds different than the other posts I am reading. Our group of 10 was given 20 seconds each to say name and something about yourself. No questions were asked by the girl behind the table and she totally appeared uninterested. It was about 3:30 before we got to the table and my Mom and I both feel as if by that point in the day the Deal or no Deal people were just plain tired of being there and didn't care anymore. No one was asked to stay for one on one questions from our group and it didn't even appear as if the girl behind the table was listening to anyone. We feel defeated and as if we would have been better off to just send in the video. All said even with the negative aspects of the day it was a lot of fun and I am happy that I went. We met some great people in line and are going to chalk it up to a weekend like no other! I do wish that there was a way to know if a phone call will ever come? Does anyone know if there is a possibility for a call back without being asked to stay at the table for any other ammound of time? Just wish we had some idea of what to expect now???
Posted by: Jenny at October 3, 2006 10:22 AM
Hey Jenny,
I had the same experience as you. I waited in line all day and when my group went in and got our 30 seconds the girl did not seem interested at all. Did you have a girl wearing a ponytail with dark hair? No one in my group was asked to stay. The girl just didnt seem to care it was like everyone was just talking to themselves. The only question we were asked was to tell something crazy we have done. Just wish I could of had a more upbeat casting director
Posted by: Maureen at October 3, 2006 10:49 AM
Yeah , my director was Mary...I think she does have some input when it comes to selecting out of the millions but I think she has very little to do with who makes it through...I think Niel the casting producer & Scott the executive producer do the final picking.
I really think that if you were not what they wnt even on video and you don't sound good and have an intereting story as well as charecter ...its probably not gonna happen but who knows I maybe wrong
Posted by: Nsiki at October 3, 2006 11:14 AM
Hi Maureen,
Yes we had a young girl with dark hair in a pony tail! We were not even asked questions. Just told, put your applications down face up on the table, she pointed to the person on her left and said, Ok starting with you everyone has 20 seconds, tell me your name and something about yourself. Then she didn't comment to anyone or ask any questions. I am not sure if this had an impact on our group but the first 3 people in the group were related and started things off on a real downer note, talking about the fact that the 3 were all widows and how much they needed the money... I wanted to scream "NO" because I know that was not what they wanted to hear, they were looking for fun, outgoing people...when it was my turn I tried to be upbeat and show personalitiy, I really felt that I did well and was trying for a positive spin, not talking about how I was there after the money ect. because let's face it you might not win anything!!! I guess I will just move on and if it is meant to be then the phone will ring!
I have heard people say that the auditions were all video taped, does anyone know if this is fact or fiction? I didn't see a video camera!
Good luck,
Jenny
Posted by: Jenny at October 3, 2006 11:36 AM
I'm glad that ours weren't done the way most of yours were. we each had 30 seconds in front of a camera to tell why want to be on the show. We didnt' ahve to stand there in groups and although it was still nerveracking, it was better to have your own time with the camera. it was very out in the open but not so that you felt you were competing with the person beside you kind of thing. The casting director stood there at the camera while I spoke and just watched so I had a feeling I would get a call back and thankfully I did but I am coming up on 3 months since then and have given up hope that I will get another call. I think about things I could have said in my audition that I didn't after the fact...of course, we all do that but overall I think I did great. me and my supporters were all so hyped up and excited. one of my supporters did say she didn't know how to play when he asked. that might have hurt our chances. he had to explain it. i dont' look for a call back anytime soon though. good luck to those who do still have a chance at it though.
Posted by: me at October 3, 2006 11:53 AM
i also didn't have any kind of story, a heartfelt one that they seem to want this year so I think that too hurt my chances.
Posted by: me at October 3, 2006 11:54 AM
The first stage of the open casting call ARE NOT taped. The second one where you play the mock game is taped.
Posted by: John Doe at October 3, 2006 11:54 AM
So since I wasn't asked to stay and talk seperatly at the table does that mean the application was trashed or do they really review those and call anyone just from the application alone?
Jenny
Posted by: Jenny at October 3, 2006 12:07 PM
Guys, stay calmn. On my call back I was told, sometimes they know they want you months b4 they use you. My casting director, Scott, said this 3 or 4 times. Told me the story about the season finale. They saw that woman months b4 and had to hold on to her untill the time was right. Imagine how long b4 her phone rang. This is what I think about as the time passes. Maybe there is something really BIG in store for one of us. Chin Up!

HERE'S A QUESTION:
has anyone played the lucky case game during the commercials via text messaging? I played sometime last week I think it was and recieved a text message back saying thanx for playing and someone is speaking very fondly of you or something like that. Anyone else get this response?? if you haven't play it nxt time and see if you do!!!

I went to the auditions in Everett-WA Sept. 23. While in line waiting for one of the 10 person tables to open, I noticed the interviewer take the batch of applications from the group before mine and place them in what looked like a wastebasket/recycle bin under the table. So, when my group went up, I didn't think any of us really had a chance since the prior group was so loud and happy! Next day, I got a call! I wonder if they review the applications later or the interviewer was just plain slick and really paying attention to us without displaying any emotions as we each did our spiel.
Posted by: Maybe at October 3, 2006 05:26 PM
One thing I forgot to mention was when we were waiting in the line of 10 people to go in front of the interviewer, there was a man at the table nearest to where everyone was waiting. He was a bit on the grumpy side (who could blame him 8 hours or so into this) as most groups were running to the table they were yelling and screaming (after all we were told to be excited) he left his table and came over to the lines of 10 and yelled at all of us to stop the yelling, that others were trying to be interviewed and if anyone else so much as opened their mouth to yell he would throw them out of the auditorium right then and there would be no interview. Our group had planned this little chant to do on the way over to the table and we cancelled it real fast! Instead we just calmly jogged to the table so as not to irritate the man!
Just seemed as if everyone was tired and didn't want to deal with it anymore.
Posted by: Jenny at October 3, 2006 05:49 PM
Did anyone have a young lady with long blond hair as their interviewer? She was really quiet during everyone's 30 seconds. She was also the same person at the actual callback that I went to for the mock game. She was really nice and said that she hoped that the producers enjoys our tape as she did. Anyone else have her and did she do anything different or the same with their group before excusing them? I'm not sure if her name was Rita or something similar.

dear unknown, you made my night. Just what you said gave me hope and energy. I am the one who interviewed in st. louis 4 months ago and had a great feeling about being on the show. But, I haven't heard anything. I felt it in my gutt that I would be on but listening to everyone say after 4 months might be over. I am going to stay hopeful but I do agree I thought if they loved you they would let you know way in advanced. WELL HOPEFULLY WE ALL CAN BE ON A BIG DOLLAR AMOUNT
Posted by: debbie at October 3, 2006 11:22 PM
I just had a near "deal" experience. My phone range with a 212 area code. I couldn't get to it in time but I looked up the area code and its only one number off from los angeles. booooo. its' a new york # instead. anyone know the area code the call will come from??? I think my first call back was 313
Posted by: me at October 4, 2006 09:37 AM
The casting director that gave me a callback was Mary Rachel Foot too. She also told me she loved me and that it was ultimatley up to the producers. I did have to tape the mock game at home and I haven't heard anything yet. That's been at least a couple of months ago. I think they have to be positive and tell you they love you so you won't feel like you're doing it for nothing. And when she called to set up my mock game the call came from an unavailable #. Keep your chins up. None of us will really know until we get "that call".
Posted by: shooie at October 4, 2006 10:35 AM
For those of you just waiting and waiting...and waiting, I do know that the lady that won 750K actually wasn't called back until about eight (8) months after her call back audition (mock taping) Now look at her. So, there is always hope. Remember that and hang in there.
Posted by: just like you at October 4, 2006 01:04 PM
just like you-
That is so nice to hear! Thank you for sharing! Wish other past contestants would share how long they waited. Where did you get that info?
Posted by: Misti at October 4, 2006 01:13 PM
We had heard that at our own callback yesterday in Chicago. They passed out the pages and there was a section on there under (faq's) When they our audition director elaborated on the time frame of when one could expect a call back she told us that information. You would want a call back as soon as possible to do your mock-taping while they are still in the city before flying back to LA. IT is at that point once they submit their audition videos to the casting producer and executive producer if you will get called to LA and when. Hope i was of more hope. I also remember her saying that sometimes it takes longer and others not as long because there is really no system that they use, but they want fun people and sometimes they want one of a certain occupation or background or even one came up with something crazy like searching for a girl in a purple shirt or whatever it may be. Did you receive a call back audition??? From the moment they take their tapes back and prepare them for the producers along with photos they took. It can take up from 2 months to a year. If you aren't called between those dates... chances are real slim after the period has expired.
Posted by: just like you at October 4, 2006 01:28 PM
well I am feeling better about the date to hear back since the women who won the 750 took 8 months but that meant she tried out last season. I am not sure if that makes sense. Can someone find out. I have been having dreams about them calling me. THis has become crazy and all I think about is being on the show. does anyone feel the same
Posted by: debbie at October 4, 2006 11:24 PM
Yes, I know exactly how you feel. This is like a relationship where someone loves you and makes you feel special and then does not call for days. This is now healthy!! They should let people know either way. I actually work in this type of field and I am finding myself really dwelling on getting on the show.
Posted by: misti at October 5, 2006 12:35 AM
i sent my application and video in at the end of april 2006 and have not heard a word, it says one application per year, does anyone knows if that means calender year (january to January) or if that means per taping season? I am ready to send another one in but don't want to get kicked off automatically because it is too soon, i have never been to a real audition, just did the stuff by mail, any info would be good. thanks

Hello. I went to the try-outs in Chicago and had a blast! We spent the night so we were really close to the front of the line. When my group of ten went, I was asked to stay for additional questioning, but wasn't asked to come back on Monday. Should I remain hopeful, or should I just forget about it and move on? Just wondering if anyone had any optimistic stories for me. THanks!
Posted by: Hopefull at October 5, 2006 11:35 AM
You went to the open call in Chicago and did not get a call back while they were in town? They were flying back to LA today (thursday) I am not sure what to tell you, but your chances are probably so much thinner since there were callbacks for people and those callbacks would be where the pick their next selections.. Hang in there... you never know. They take their mocktapes directly to the casting and executive producers for final picking.
Posted by: just like you at October 5, 2006 02:37 PM
If you were to receive callbacks they were scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday was used for extra (maybe's) At the open call more than half that were really liked were given automatic dates and times to return for the mock taping. Then from another pile they called over the weekend to fill in some of Wednesday's spots. Someone said that they only picked around 100-120 total mock auditions as final selections. From those they are narrowed down by the casting producer then the others are taken to the senior producer executive.

Are you serious, they only invited 120 from Chi-town? Out of those 20,000 or so.. only 120 got to move on to the next step? Can someone confirm that? That seems REALLY LOW.
Posted by: John Doe at October 5, 2006 05:33 PM
Here's another question:
Do you think it matters what day you are asked to come back for the second interview? Like the first days are the one's they feel real strong and stand a good chance, second day are the one's that they're not quite sure about.. borderline maybe's?
Posted by: John Doe at October 5, 2006 05:36 PM
It sounds like 120 is the number for all the cities. It may have been 100 in smaller ones. I'm guessing that most of the postings say that there were 6 different interview rooms at the 2nd auditions. So, each audition agent probably got to choose 20 each. Chicago having so much turnout, had to have a 3rd day.
My own guess is that it doesn't matter which of the first two days you get. With me, I got a call from the same number and missed it with no message(my voicemail was on the blink). I received THE call again four hours later. It may be when they actually reach each person on their list. I didn't expect a callback at all, so I wasn't waiting by my phone.
Posted by: misti at October 5, 2006 05:45 PM
Does anyone know if they actually go back to LA or send their mock tapes back after each audition city? They went from Seattle to Chicago within 3-4 days! Also, is it the same team that interviews everyone? Wish we had some kind of authentic answer about our chances.
Hey, Nsinki, please share if you know. Thank you!
Posted by: misti at October 5, 2006 05:53 PM
Misti,
How was your callback?

To Pam: Thanks for your reply from Sept. 29 about what happens after sending in a tape. I hope you hear from them again! : )
To everyone who posts here: I love this blog because I have learned so much about what happens with the audition process. Thank you all for sharing! However, I am always looking to hear even more people's experiences, so I was wondering... Does anyone know of anywhere else on the Internet where people are sharing their Deal or No Deal try out experiences like they are sharing them here? I'd love to learn about other places if you know them. Thanks!
Just curious ; )

It was actually pretty quick. My supporters were cheerful and loud even while waiting for two hours that I felt very confident with who I chose to bring. When my own one on one interview came up, I don't think I did what I could've. The casting agent was really nice and told me to talk to her like she was a friend. I really wish I just let go and told her more than I did. To be honest, I think she chose me because of my application answers. I am feeling like I didn't deliver :( I'm still hoping that my crazy group pulled us through to at least being considered :)

Hi Misty, did you interview in chicago. did they give you the 1 and 2 box to pick from. Let me know.
Posted by: debbie at October 5, 2006 09:01 PM
Debbie,
What is the 1 and 2 box you are referring to? Anyone out there remember the crazy lady wearing the silver lucky case 5? I had my mock audition on Tuesday. Our casting Agent was the blonde gal. Super nice and super funky. I am so excited that I cannot believe it really happened. Would love to share more with you if I can help.
Posted by: lucky duck at October 5, 2006 11:20 PM
Misti,
They flew back to Chicago today with all their photos and videos. Our casting agent told us it takes at least a week or two to get everything ready for their final picks before they turn it over to the Casting Producer. She was really cool and took personal photos with me and my supporters. When she seen me she talked to me for 5 minutes then started around the table. I guess I got about 5 minutes and 20 seconds. SHe was quick on the button with others regarding their time limit. I think that I just may be on the show wearing that crazy thing. i sure hope so anyway! Can you see me walking through the airport with that thing on? haha
Posted by: lucky duck at October 5, 2006 11:26 PM
When she found out that my husband was also with me and he told her that he loves the show, would like to be on it and really didn't have much more else to say, but that he was the only one married to the only one wearing the crazy case around all day. She asked me to pick out of myself and my husband which would be the better contestant because she could not decide.. I told her my husband, my husband. He loves the show and let me support him. She said okay...and after the mock taping now we wait! God Bless all of you and the best of luck. DOn't ever give up and always remember to keep your faith. Funny note: Today's fortune cookie said: Great luck is for you in due course." That's awesome. There are so many of you beautiful people and each and every one of you have something so unique to bring to the show. Remember it is your life today as you know it and remember that luck and fortune are really happening every day you wake up healthy and breathing. Just make sure you don't dwell too much or you will go insane and stess yourself out. I can tell that some individuals that post on here are hanging on by barely any teeth left gritting the mere possibility that you will get the phone call. Go about your normal lives and remember to keep it real. When it happens for you and that phone call comes (that long awaiting day) you want to know now. Remember to live your life as if you already received that phone call to be flown to LA. I found this site after my call back and find it so interesting and value each and everyone of your personal insights. Take Care and Wish you very very very best!

dear lucky duck, sounds like your case was lucky. that is so unique. did they tell you how long it could be to get a call if you made it. so many people say different things, I have heard from 2 weeks to 2 years. I wonder what the time frame really is? someone said that the woman who wom the 750 didnm't get a call for 8 months or so. does anyone really know. and you are right, it becomes a obsession, you leave your last interview play the game , feel really good and you wait, wait, wait for the call. it has been over 4 months for me and I felt confident I was going to get a call, it is the up and down , one day you feel p;ositive and the next hopeless. can someone please give us their thoughts on the timeframe. I think it would be eaiser if they would email you if the answer is no so we can forget about it. what do you guys feel.

Lucky duck,
I did see you. You looked great. I am a costume designer and I actually thought about making the costume for the supporters. Did you make that. I loved it. We saw you standing in line outside navy pier. We had slept at navy pier and were at the beginning of the line. Good luck to you!
Posted by: sheri at October 6, 2006 10:14 AM
Sheri,
Yes I made the costume, It was a spontaneous decision and I made it and had it done in the evenings after work. It probably took me 3 nights to get it completed. It was so much fun and I am anxious to wear it on the show someday (??) Did you have any luck with your interview? I am assuming you did you mentioned making what I had for your supporters. The best luck to you!

Lucky Duck,
We had our callback on Tuesday. It was my mother who ended up with the callback. We thought it went well. We were pleased with how well everyone did. My 7 year old son did very good also. I think I was most afraid of him freezing up. You know with kids anything can happen. Only time will tell. I hope to get called, but realize that there are so many other people also wanting to get called. I feel lucky just to get a callback for the mock audition.
