Knorr Marketing was founded in 1986 by Douglas D. Knorr, the President of Knorr Marketing, after many years in the broadcast industry. He began October 1st sharing a receptionist in a small office on Eighth Street in Traverse City, Michigan.

Knorr Marketing opened as a retail agency with two clients and grew quickly, taking on additional clients in Traverse City as well as other markets. In 1987, the business was moved to West Bay Shore. At that time, it became apparent that additional employees were needed. Knorr Marketing quickly added a media director, an artist, and a business manager.

In 1989, an additional Account Manager was brought on, James McIntyre, who later became the Vice President of Knorr Marketing. Mr. McIntyre, former National Marketing Manager for Archway Cookies, Inc., of Battle Creek, brought knowledge and expertise in the areas of Account Management, Creative and Broadcast production.

In 1993, Knorr Marketing moved to its newly renovated offices in the Historic Old City Hall building in Downtown Traverse City. Knorr Marketing currently services approximately 30 local, regional and national advertising clients in the areas of retail marketing, outdoor recreations, resorts, automotive, real estate, and business to business.
